Thanks Nathan. I emailed you with this question last fall as things slowed down. I appreciate your extensive explanation in this video. Having worked in other types of photography prior to real estate, I understood how color would affect how much light was reflected to the meter and how the different metering modes worked. What I missed was the difference between the histogram and metering display. I failed to understand that the histogram always uses the whole frame in manual mode, regardless of what metering mode is selected. Great explanation of the difference and why we always use the histogram verses the metering display in real estate work. For those that are thinking of making an investment into Nathan's books, I would highly recommend them, they have been a great help in my learning curve. Nathan's KZbin videos and books are a solid investment, I hope I can purchase his video courses this year. Whether it's time or time and money, Nathan's educational materials are the best resource I've found.

Many youtubers who talk about your Flambiant technique, dear Nathan Cool, should still quote you, because you're the instigator. I think it's wrong of them not to quote you systematically; they're appropriating your technique, often misunderstanding it, and doing business on it. It's unfair! Thank you Nathan for giving us so much. This technique has been decisive in my work as a French luxury real estate photographer. I would like to thank you very much for this and send you my fraternal greetings.

Great video. I was thinking of getting your books on real estate photography. If there as well laid out as this, I'm sure I'll be happy.

Another excellent post! QUESTION: what do you suggest or you yourself use for 3D tours...? Insta 360, the regular Ricoch camera(s)... How about OpenFrame...? Regarding tools to send your clients the files (photo/video) what do you use or recommend...? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this... Thank you! cheers! ;)

hello! beginner real estate photographer here. Originally i began shooting houses in manual mode, but after doing some research like i am doing now, i learned about auto exposure bracketing. Sense then ive been following this method to make hdr in lightroom, why would I use manual mode over using an auto exposure bracketing technique and employing an aperture priority mode. Is it really as simple as, " you want to have full control in these situations?"

How would you then determine the proper exposure for this scene? Say you want to expose for the white wall. If you spot meter, it would expose for middle grey and not white. Do you have a method to coordinate the actual white exposure level of the wall to the histogram?

It depends on the scene, lighting, color/darkness, how much window light, and more. There is no quick answer, but these are things are covered in-depth in my pro interiors course at LearnRE.NathanCool.com

I have picked up many times you will take a picture from one side of the room and then the other. then the wall or floor comes out a different hue or color. What is the main cause of this and would this manual mode help for that? Very Frustrating when i have to go re color walls or floors .it takes up alot of time

That would be a result of using auto white balance. If you use manual white balance then colors will stay more consistent from shot to shot in the same space.
