Did you need to take any material off of the staff beads to make space for the weather stripping? I have some sashes that are pretty tight fit, wondering if just adding in weather stripping without making some space for them will mean they are very difficult (or impossible) to move

What size routing bit do you normally use for silicone bulb and weather stripping?
@WoodWindowMakeover4 жыл бұрын
There's a special bit you order to install the Weatherstripping. All of it, the Weatherstripping, the bit and more is available at conservationtechnology.com

any comments on why you caulked the upper sash seal into place instead of cutting another slot and using a similar bulb seal to the one you used for the meeting rail? how did you end up sealing the bottom of the bottom sash?
@WoodWindowMakeover6 жыл бұрын
I have the tool to cut the groove, and I've done it. I stopped though because that groove is not easily reversible. It's not in the video, but I install a tube seal for the bottom sash where the stool meets the sill. The link on the comment above takes you to a smorgasbord of options for multiple applications. Just because I don't do the groove doesn't mean you can't. The groove is totally legit.

Have you ever used metal interlocking weather stripping?
@WoodWindowMakeover6 жыл бұрын
Yes I have. And that's why I use this! You should come to our workshop in February. A buddy of mine is going to be teaching a class on interlocking weatherstripping

@@WoodWindowMakeover thanks but I install that stuff all the time. But I am considering going for the sash building course.

@@7051ff I'd love to have you. It's a total game changer. San Antonio needs a good sash maker

What do you call that front stop molding?
@WoodWindowMakeover2 жыл бұрын
I call it a window stop. There might be another name but that’s what I’ve always called it

I have a lot of cold air coming in through the holes in the frame where the chains for the weights are located. Not sure that weatherstripping would address that. Any suggestions?

there's more footage of the cleaning and uninstall of the windows than the actual placement of the seal and routing.

Shut up! you're a plumber so stick to your pipes and don't critisize what you know nothing about.
