So much more dynamic, relevant, thought-provoking than the mind-numbing "school" display. I am so excited. I love the Met. I know the collection well. But now, it is like going to a new museum for a whole new experience with those old friends. Thank you Met!!!!

Wouldn't I love to visit. A friend spent summers in New York with a daughter living uptown very close to Met. He would send me postcards of art at the Met. The postcards were wonderful! A dream...

Appreciate that The Met is trying to incorporate more works by female artists in its collection
@monkeygraborange3 жыл бұрын
Thankfully the Met can afford to pursue the best examples, unlike the majority of venues which are cheapening their collections by the inclusion of third- and fourth-rate works by women simply because they're women.

The Rubens at 4:16. I've looked very closely at that painting many times. The thick build up of alizarin crimson changes when you look at from a different angle, and on the cheek becomes a very realistic hollow. Go see it, you'll see what I mean. It's like a magic trick with paint.

The Moma has it all. I once saw in a small museum in Bruges Picasso's realistic statues dating from the beginning of his carreer. That is something to get to the Moma too cuz it sheds an all other light on a later abstract painter than he is known wiith the greater puclic . Picasso had craft. About that still life in Europe...we still do that. Rubens was not a vegetarien.
