I would know Ive taken the metro many times, some of the people who ride the bus are scary and dangerous. My highest respects are always to the metro drivers. I know for a fact that job aint easy

I am a relative of Shawn. Our whole family is heart sick and broken. His wife is in utter turmoil and grief and disbelief. Shawn is funny, kind, welcoming, caring, sooo generous, and has a huge heart. This murder was senseless and tragic and has left us all in shock and despair. Our family represent a broad spectrum of political beliefs. I know that Shawn's wife wishes for this tragedy not be used as a political talking point. That might be impossible, but I just ask that everyone not forget that this was one unique individual with a family and friends who are grieving and need time to go through the grieving process.

I’m also a metro operator and was acquainted with Shawn, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I can’t begin to imagine what your families going through but I’m praying for y’all, it’s a tragic state of affairs when a working man trying to provide for his family and doing a necessary service for our city is murdered in the line of duty. I truly hope that change is coming and that Shawn didn’t die in vain.

At night, some metro buses are like alternative homeless shelters for people who can't get into regular shelters, maybe for reasons like drugs or extreme behavior. When I had to ride a packed bus at 3 AM, I wondered if I'd make it home alive. I don't think that anyone who hasn't experienced that can imagine how terrifying it is. If King County can find another alternative than buses to house the homeless who can't get into shelters, public transportation might be safer. Buses are for transportation, not housing.

Ever since arriving here from the east coast, 8 years ago I'm filled with gratitude for this city. A lot of opportunities, i was able to achieve here what i couldn't achieve in other state.
