Metro Madrid friction end stop testing

This end stop test was carried out by Llalco Fluid in Spain on behalf of Metro Madrid. Each friction end stop contains an Oleo Type 9 gas hydraulic buffer to dissipate the impacting energy.

Nosotros esa topera la tenemos en nuestra estación y creo k todabia no se ha utilizado para frenar el tren o coches d pasajeros pero efectivamente da un ejemplo muy importante para aguantar el impacto que ejerce al chocar con la topera hidráulica. Si esta muy bien el invento si señor. La seguridad lo primero.

Estaría bien apretar los tornillos, quizá así mediopararía el tren. Se puede mejorar poniendo series de zapatas apretadas con torque militar detrás de la topera en función del remanente de vía disponible.

Its a friction buffer, so yes, Im sure it was properly torqued.

@ true enough, id imagine that piston is designed to absorb quite a bit more pressure than that, so it only really engages if the car is moving fast enough to potentially break those brackets and knock the whole thing off the rails.

The buffer is to slow the train down without damaging it and it’s meant to slide so the buffer is a huge friction break

Voscillate not meant to stop trains on the spot, it’s designed to move and slide down the track to help stop and slow the train

Trains are speed restricted by the signalling at terminal locations, so they won't be going very fast anyway

These aren't meant to stop a speeding train (not much can do that). These are meant to stop something rolling into it at lower speeds without damaging the train
