George is the most brilliant Marshall style amp builder out there without question. Total nerd with this stuff and I mean that as a big compliment😊

Reminds me so much of Hendix's live sound. Same string seperation/attack, same chime, growl and authority. Just love that burst through it as well.

Before anyone asks again. This is completely redesigned amp. This isn't just a few modifications to the original design. It wouldn't be practical to have your original Super Plex updated to this version.

Is the JTM 45/100 superior to the 45, considering it's everything the 45 is, just more of it, more headroom, tighter bass, etc.

Very impressive. There's always someone on KZbin who says that two amps sound identical even though they never really do. THIS time they actually do! Great job

I'm just gonna say it....I think the Super Plex sounds better than the JTM45/100. It has a tiny bit more sparkle on top that is just lovely.

A bit tighter in the low end as well

George very cool, it's JF one of your first customer back in 2004, I think I both the very first 100W kit of your anyway I have a suggestion for you, try to use KT88 BIAS them like KT66 of course of the power supply will blow unless you modify it and une 100OHMS screens resistor, you want headroom you will, the amp just sings for ever.....that trick comes from Cerrem!! I did this actually on a 50w el34 plexiglass type head.....and it worked...just the opposite of what a normal 50w plexiglass would do (compression wise)..cheers

@Metro Amp, Hey George, I was curious, do you ever do your master volume mod on other people's builds? I'm doing a 100 watt plexi build based on the Metro specs given on Valve Storm. I hate MV's normally but am probably going to need one for this beast. Yours is the only one I've heard that sounds good.

The Marshall always sounds tighter. Probably because it focuses on a specific range in the mid freqs. All the clones I hear are not as focused and just don't sound as good to me.

And another copy of a copy, of a copy of a copy, and so on, and so on, and so on. A very boring theme.

There are not very many circuits in amp designs really. All are inspired by or copies of each other. Same goes for cabs and speakers. You have tweed, blackface, silverface, vox, marshall. Mesa boogies are essentially high gain modded blackface. Dumbles are hot rodded and tweaked fenders. Morgan and Matchless are vox. Etc.
@robertritchie28602 жыл бұрын
Somehow yes a copy. I don't have a JTM45/100. I once had 1973 Superbass 100W head. I couldn't care for it and I was scared that it would fail. I sold it. I have a Gibson R8 VOS LP, its a copy as well. I can't buy an original one. So what to do? Be miserable and not experience very good approxiamations of the originals or go and buy very good "copies" with improvements... Thx for the "copies" 👍😄 Amazing amp by the way!
@mca19602 жыл бұрын
@@robertritchie2860 All good thing on the planet are at least copies of somewhat, isn't it ? A good example is the Concorde and the Tupolev 144, the supersonic planes. So the JTM 45 circuit is a copy of the Bassman. A bit differnt in layout, and that's it. So why no copies on an old Marshall in new direction of thinking ? 😁Every guitarplayer has to decide: is it boring, or is it exciting to me ?
