Absolutely amazing George! You absolutely cracked the code ! I will be Preordering one of these 100 watt versions ASAP 2 iconic Plexi tones 12380 & 12301 …. absolutely astonishing!! I own a original 67 Super Bass that has been converted to Super Lead serial 1040x which is only a few serial # away from Paul Kossoff’s 10410 Black Flag Super Bass. So I understand real Plexi tones . Funny though Kossoff’s Plexi was several numbers after mine his was a Black Flag and mine a transitional , one of the first JMP’s with identical circuit boards … caps mounted on the turret board. So they used anything on the workbench in front of them at the time. A little more Plexi history.

Ive never heard a mv amp come close to a cranked and pushed phase inverter section on a super lead. That smeary fuzzyness and hair on the highs makes it cut so good through a mix. The Metropolous kind of gets it but as soon I heard the Marshall again its game over.. sadly you will need an concrete basement with soundproof isolation to experience this. For this kind of sound the PPIMV is the best. Period.

That's right. The clipping, saturation, distortion, harmonics all happen before the FX loop and MV.

Hello George, if there is any - what would be the sweetspot for the master volume in your opinion? Does diming it additionally to the gain control yield any advantages? Most master volume amps I played also benefit from getting the power tubes saturating at least a little…
