Metroid Prime 2 was the best in the trilogy cause your health bar had an actual function.
@lo4tr Жыл бұрын
Metroid Prime 1 was designed to mimic a lot of the 2D Metroid games in terms of area locations, music, etc. It was done this way because the shift from 2D to 3D, along with the more shooter focus over platforming, was enough to case concern among fans. Prime 2, however, feels like the first Prime game to BE a Prime game, rather than a 3D variation of Super Metroid. I think that's the main reason why I like Prime 2 more than 1. It went more toward actually utilizing the change to 3D than Prime 1 did and, thanks to the Wii, Prime 3 spent more time trying to integrate the motion function than expand on the Prime gameplay. To me: Prime 2 > Prime 1 > Prime 3 Although, I think the trilogy as a whole is one of the more consistently good game trilogies there is and I don't dislike any of the trio.

You're right about backtracking through the Research Labs in Phendrana. It's _always_ a slog. That's why I always take the Magmoor Workstation elevator to Phendrana Drifts after getting the Spider Ball. It lets out right outside of where you fight Thardus and provides an alternative path both back to the beginning of Phendrana Drifts _and_ to the places you'd normally have to pass through the labs to get to, except the Control Tower when you need to get the artifact there. Even with the awkward beam switching the Prime remaster was fantastic and I sincerely hope we get the other two remastered, or at least ported to Switch.

@@popnlocknes They are not extremely customizable. There isn't even basic button mapping. Anyhow, changing beams can easily be fixed. Standing still for a short moment when switching visors isn't as big a deal as standing still when needing to switch beams. What I hate about remastered is that they destroyed the beam cannon forms and removed any and all explosions. Aerotroopers that kamikaze you just poof out of existence. Small things like the ice walls you destroy to access Phendrana drifts do the same, and the platforms taken to get the boostball just evaporate. It becomes all the more awkward during the ending when Samus watches the temple get destroyed. In the original the whole thing is on fire and exploding while the hunter watches on. The remaster just has her looking at the Impact Crater entry platform burn. Boring. For some fucking reason NO ONE talks about this! Why?! For these reasons I'm sticking with the original simply because destruction is more fun. 1:09 I thought this video was about Prime 1 and not Prime 2.

Thats just wrong, Miyamoto didn't have anything to do with the controls, thats just a false claim on the internet for decades without any evidence. @@DanielMazahreh Thats not true, Miyamoto was hardly involved with the game in general, a lot less than both he and Nintendo publically communicated. Can't say I think this is truly the definitive edition. It plays well, especially if you use dual-stick PLUS GYRO and not just the completely garbage dual-stick only control scheme... but I think they should've brought back the glitches from the original US version. Quite honestly, it seems like the creators of Metroid Prime basically tried to do everything to avoid players from sequence breaking. And because of that, the sequence breaks that are left pretty much require an extreme amount of precision or out-of-bounds glitching. Early space jump is now not just a lot less early, but is so hard and precise that even speedrunners can take a few minutes to get it, for example. I think it would've been nice if they brought back some of the original mechanics to allow for an easier time for sequence-breaking. I always hated how being a European just prevented me from doing many of them and they removed even more in the Trilogy version (which this one is based on). It's a very nice graphical upgrade with perfect controls... I just think it's a shame there just isn't much fun to be had sequence-breaking unless you're willing to spend hours trying to get them.
@francescov.3610 Жыл бұрын
Apparently I read somewhere that the reason why they patched a lot of the sequence breaking glitches in the original North American 2002 release in the international, players choice, Wii, and Switch versions is because the sequence breaks would occasionally cause crashing issues, especially in certain rooms in the Chozo Ruins.
@thenonexistinghero Жыл бұрын
@@francescov.3610 It's a trade I gladly would've made. And they could've just fixed the cause of the crash instead. Quite frankly, sequence breaking in this game is now so obnoxiously hard and annoying I don't bother with it.

Honestly I don't think you're playing Prime right if you're not using the original control scheme. The emphasis in Prime isn't, and never has been aiming. The Lock on and limited look around options are reminiscent of the shoulder buttons in earlier Metroid games. What's important is locking on and using the second stick and d-pad to make sure you have the optimal weapon and visor selected.
