1- You don't think of Metroid when you talk about Nintendo and it's biggest titles. 2- The genre it defined is extremely niche and it's not easy to get into. 3- Nintendo's bread and butter is about releasing jrpgs, rpgs, anime style games and family friendly games. Metroid is the biggest outlier in that regard. 4- I would argue that one of the things that overall gamers hate the most is: getting lost. (Especially now with how attention spans are decreasing more and more). And Metroid is all about that. 5- For whatever reason people in Japan (the 2nd biggest gaming market in the world, although china might have surpassed it) just don't vibe with the series. It's an uphill battle for sure.

You seen what sells? COD, FIFA...so on...most humans pay for crap and don't want quality. They don't know what quality is. Though not every game needs 10+ million sales. Nothing wrong with a niche series. If it has a dedicated fanbase and the game makes a profit in the end, it's all good.

​@@samy29987 if you know about the sheer quality of the games you think of metroid when Nintendo is mentioned. When I think of Nintendo, it's Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. Those are their highest quality and most influential franchises. Metroid may have never been a seller, but you can just tell the prime games got the same love and care as 3d mario and Zelda when it came to developing them.

Still waiting... I have yet to play Metroid Prime Remastered because of the wait for Prime 2 and 3 Remastered. If they ended up being straight ports... well, I won't get them because there's already a great Wii port of the entire Trilogy that I still have to this day.

@@NoahSanchez Yep, it still holds up really well to this day, though Prime 2 Echoes really showing its age (even though it's my personal favorite). Prime 1 Remastered was done really well in which I hope to see Prime 2 and 3 getting the same treatments.

I just hope Metroid will sell better & hopefully increase the chances of other dormant Nintendo franchises like Star Fox, F-Zero, & Kid Icarus, all of which have been referenced in Mario’s room in the Super Mario Bros movie, one other franchise I want back is Fossil Fighters.

Why would one selling well result in the others getting made? If talking about dormant franchises, why wouldn't it be dependent on the new FDC? Nintendo generally doesn't even seem to operate like that.

Personally I am also hopeful for the presently "dead" Sci-Fi franchises, for example one thing I would really LOVE to see happen with F-Zero is for Nintendo to build a more modern version of game in that universe, for example take ideas from Zelda-team's Zonai building and make custom ships a part of the experience, or follow a "GTA" model only instead of criminal activity we act as a bounty hunter, there are so many great places to take those series in modern era not available before.

Interesting. I’m hoping for an online open world Pokemon Mario Kart fusion with dinosaurs taking the lessons from Fossil Fighters Frontier, keeping what was good from it, & replacing what was awful with more elements from Fossil Fighters & Fossil Fighters Champions. That would be awesome for an open world Fossil Fighters game, the bone buggies in Frontier were a good idea, they were just poorly executed. Fossil Fighters Frontier & Star Fox Command are just a couple examples I know of good ideas poorly executed.

They really should utilize all of samus' abilities for the new game. ex: Her grapple beam shouldn't soley be used for traversal. But also combat. Even her speed boost should be utilized for more than just running fast. If they can find a way to implement these type of things. I believe it would take the franchise to new heights.

Good insight. Versatility with the kit would be much nicer. Instead of just “case use” scenarios. Btw the grapple beam was used for combat in Prime 3. But it was “use case scenario” instead of a freely deployable attack.

I only this - given prime 4's graphics, the game itself won't be very long,. I just hope there's some wide open areas, and a new game plus mode where enemies become stronger so there's reasons to keep playing your file instead of starting over every time. Maybe side missions where you gotta take out big monsters or something like that... Prime definitely one of my favorite series but they have to modernize it and put in some kind of new mode or something

@skylangford6083 Yeah but it aged extremely poorly, and it was made back in a day when Video game adaptations we're pretty common, I personally think Metroid deserves a brand new comic book mini series adaptation that's more faithful to the source material, or atleast have some of those old Metroid Mangas from the 2000s physically rereleased in the US where Metroid is most popular like they did with most of the Zelda Mangas.

Prime 4 is going to set a new bar for gaming standards.

My expected sales for Metroid Prime 4 is 4-5m at bare minimum. The plans are to top every Prime game that came before it and they have been working on the game as early as 2019. Possibly taking inspiration from other modern Switch era games; I do expect Prime 4 to have a dodge button similar to Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Flurry Rush from Open World Zelda titles. And it should be the most content heavy game in the series too; taking longer to 100% and having bigger galleries and what not. And it's critical Acclaim should be exponentially high and perhaps full of 10/10 reviews. But I doubt the sales will reach those of BotW or TotK. Despite Metroidvania being a real popular genre among Indie games as of late, it's a shame the best selling game in the series is still less than the best selling Fire Emblem game; a series that used to be really niche. This is despite it officially being considered the 3rd most critically acclaimed game on the NES after Super Mario Bros 3 and Legend of Zelda. While 10m or maybe even 15m could be possible long term, I am not going to be getting hopes up that high. I doubt it would even be as popular as Luigi's Mansion 3. But Metroid was never as niche as Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, or Kid Icarus have been and I expect it to have a more popular "Magnum Opus" by comparison.

I think they should remake federation forces because i think it fits very well for the metroid lore develop putting the focus on of the actors in the whole story as soldiers witnessing the outcomes of the decission of the often corrupt higher ranks

I still think Echoes and Corruption are coming but if for some reason they don't.. i still feel a lot of new players will dive right in to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond after maybe just playing Prime 1 Remastered... The Witcher 3 is a good example of this... that game had so much hype at the time that a lot of people played that game without ever playing the first two installments or played Witcher 3 first and then went back and played the other two... so I don't feel not having Prime 1 and 2 on Switch will directly effect Prime 4 sales overall, but with that said I still think Prime 1 & 2 are dropping on Switch, potentially early next year...

I think the biggest draw of the Prime games is its immersive atmosphere. And what could be more immersive than a VR mode? This would also help differentiate the Switch version from the Switch 2 version. They could even bundle the game with a Headset.

The difference between zelda and Metroid, is that metroid is in a genre that is soo saturated in the playstation/xbox/pc, That is First player shooters. People in the other consoles have far better graphics, 60fps, online chat, etc. where Nintendo lags behind in those areas. Its unfortunate but metroid is a niche audience

Being an ultra Metroid mega fan I am super excited to see Beyond. I don't think it will sell well though as Metroid does not sell. I hope not for multiplayer and it's not the type of game to have it.

last quarter of Metaphor falls off (pacing, combat balancing / RNG..), and the overall "pandering" (aka "lecturing") doesn't help either.. .... overall "Y's X: Nordic" deserves the same love, and is just as valid as Goty (surprisingly, didn't expect Y's X to be so good) ... btw. if you liked Metaphors story, you'll like the anime (light novel) "Re: Zero Starting a new life in another world", by S1E7/8 you'll see the parallels (Metaphor got its story & some art inspirations), .. and by S1E11/12 see why its a goat anime...

Like, I haven't even really played those games but between the character Metroid Prime, Dark Samus and the Hunters, there's a lot going on. Scanning probably also gives lots of lore and there are also Ings, I think they're called, and other new-ish races. It doesn't strike me as having necessarily that much less story than the main series.

Retro Studios has nothing to prove to anyone. Their entire existence has proven they are basically the only great western dev there is. They learned to follow Nintendo's ways of handling thing and with how they are a company that is all about passion, they are fine. Primes 1-3 proved themselves. And don't bother with the "But all the old talent is gone!" That's false, like 10-12 OG veterans left, most of the original team is still there.

​@@robertkenny1201 I'd assume that it was at least in some rough planning stage before Dread even released. Dread was tried on two systems and cancelled both times, so Sakamoto might have had concepts for a sequel ready for ages.
