I remember being in class 3 or 4 when the construction of Howrah Maidan Metro started and now I'm in 4th sem pursuing BA LLB and still it's not completed. Sometimes it's quite disappointing that it took so many years and still no one knows how much time it'll take more. But on the other side it's good that Dakshineswar Metro is helping me a lot in traveling as Dakshineswar is more or less 30 mins from my home. Hope that in 2022 Howrah Maidan Metro will be inaugurated. 😌

Kolkata has the oldest Metro Railway in this country, being the first city to introduce a rapid transit for the firdt time in India. But its so unfortunate that we are still figitting with 2 lines and 33 stations, really so backwards and underpriviledged is the condition of transportation infrastructure here. But how can we imagine, because we are submerged in the pool of petty and cheap politics of vendetta and federal hooliganism, rather than cooperation to develop infrastructure.

One line should extend ASAP from Howrah maidan to Dankuni junction via Shalimar Santragachi and Kona And the north south line should extend from Dakshineswar to Dankuni junction via bally and Dankuni housing

Out of the 7 stations in operation, 6 are in North 24 pgs. Only phoolbagan is in Kolkata. Why dont the metro rail plan for a 4 station route between howrah maidan and Esplanade. There will be a lot of passengers in this part only and it will decongest MG Road and Braboune Road

Nice info. I mean Kolkata is love but development is damn slow. And also these politicians whether it is dumb Mamta or CPM, they always think about kolkata. Think about whole bengal . Bengal has potential to be a self sufficient , productive state but some people are happy with 500 rs, Kanya shree, rixashree, cycleshree etc. Today bengal is a land of dacoits, thieves, goons, anti-socials & anti-nationals.
