Well, considering the metro buff that I am, I'd definitely take the metro from Ruby (my nearest station) to Airport haha! But expectations are really high, and I would really, really appreciate if KMRC decides to put maybe like a special rake at either end for a more comfortable airport commute. A Delhi approach won't be economically viable, but a Chennai approach would make a lot of sense for the regular air travellers, of which there are quite a lot of people and ever growing. I've personally travelled on both the Chennai and Delhi metros (both for airport commutes as well), and while the former is not up to the mark and the Delhi Orange line is one of greatest things ever, an amalgamation of both into Biman Bandar would be a wet dream for metro geeks like us lol.

Kolkata Airport lies in a residential area, where people take buses not to board the flight but to commute to and from offices. Airport users in Kolkata often take Govt AC buses which are luggage friendly for air commute.

Not true. I normally took the AC bus service from the airport whenever I came to Kolkata. And there were dozens like me who boarded the AC buses.

@@sambit99able only when u hv enough time between ur flight arrival n train departure from howrah..The ac bus halts at nearly 50-60 stops between airport and howrah and the ticket cost 50rs, it takes 1.5hrs to reach in peak timing. We r a family of 3, we book ola or uber for 350-370rs which is much much better n convenient. And even if we r 1 or 2, whenever we have more than 1 trolley bag we always prefer to book ola

@Erwin Rommel আপনি বোধহয় আমার কথার অর্থ ঠিকমত উপলব্ধি করতে পারেননি। আমি কখনও বাস, ট্যাক্সি তুলে দেবার কথা বলিনি। যেটা বলেছি সেটা হল যেভাবে তেলের দাম বাড়ছে, তাতে ভাড়া বাড়ানো না হলে বাস, ট্যাক্সি বা এই সব বেসরকারি গণপরিবহন ব্যবস্থা খরচা পোষাতে না পেরে আপনাআপনি বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে। ওরা তো ব্যবসা করতে এসেছে, যেখানে মুনাফা করাটাই মুখ্য। কেউ তো ঘরের টাকা দিয়ে জনসেবা করবে বলে আসেনি। তাই সহজ বুদ্ধিতেই বোঝা যাচ্ছে যে লাভ না করতে পারলে ধীরে ধীরে সব ধরনের বেসরকারি গণপরিবহন ব্যবস্থা নিজে থেকেই উঠে যাবে, কাউকে তুলতে হবে না। আর রেলের কথা বলছেন? রেল তো সরকারি সংস্থা যেগুলো বেশিরভাগ সময়ই ভর্তুকিতে চলে এবং সেই টাকাটাও আসে জনগণের ট্যাক্স থেকে। জনমোহিনী রাজনীতির বাধ্যবাধকতায় বাস, রেল এই ধরনের সরকারি গণপরিবহনের ভাড়া চট করে বাড়ানো হয় না। আর "বাস ট্যাক্সির চেয়ে পাবলিক ট্রান্সপোর্ট ভালো" কথাটা বুঝলাম না।
