The addition of McNeil is interesting. Putting him in LF (Nimmo CF, Matre in RF) against certain RH pitchers would make for the deepest lineup among the 4 teams. That’s dependent on us getting us 2nd half McNeil. The only thing about McNeil that would worry me if he brought his 1st half attitude to the team but during the 2nd half his attitude was much better.

Quite an exciting Final Four with the Mets who are the most surprising of the four because of how they started out the season until June, the Dodgers who had an historic season from Shohei Ohtani, the Yankees, who have not played in a World Series since 2009 (a long time by Yankee standards), and the Guardians (the former team of Francisco Lindor), who have had a great season under first year manager Stephen Vogt. The Peterson/Senga discussion is a very interesting one. You would think that Peterson is better suited to the starting role because he could pitch more innings and has been in that role the entire season. And he is not coming off an injury unlike Senga, who has a more strict pitch count. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Additionally, with the Dodgers pitching, who have certainly had their share of injuries with their pitching.

This past series for the LAD: Otani 4-20; Betts 4-18; Freeman (playing hurt) 4-14; Teo 6/18; Muncy 1-18; Smith 2-16; and Kiki 3-9 (forgive me if I'm off), and then the pitching that is left limited the Padres, 24 consecutive scoreless innings and 19 consecutive batters retired. I am a sports fan first and foremost and ANYING can happen. But if the meat of the LAD's lineup starts going, then it's a different outlook.

MLB must be watching because as of this moment Ohtani's post season stats are up on their site. 😅 The hosts are doing a good job framing the next series with only a slight whiff of wishfulness. The scenarios they painted are pretty realistic as both teams are not as complete as one might expect in a CS, but that won't stop the series from being potentially very entertaining for general baseball audiences. For each team's respective fan bases I would expect plenty of moments that will have them squirming for the most part with maybe a few release valve moments when the teams break through for their respective wins. I'm just hoping for seven tight games. That said as Giants fan, who doesn't hate the Dodgers (the organization or the fans) I feel like the higher the Dodgers go, the more pressure on the rest of the western division, which would be good. On the other hand a subway series might be good for the entire league.

I think Mets objectively should be the favorite, but we don't live in a world governed by logic and reason! The Dodgers are a fundamentally unsound team, you can't win a 7 game series without good starting pitching. It would take incredible extreme luck for the Dodgers to pull this off, they would have to get extraordinary numbers of innings eaten by starters, their bullpen would always have to have their stuff consistently, and they would need actual rally performances from the batting order instead of what they've been doing which is just ad hoc current Phillies-style random bombs. It's possible for the Dodgers to do this, but they would have the burden of having the luck to get everything right.
@WhyMetsPod2 ай бұрын

Disagree regarding the McNeil comments. We desperately need a left-handed bat on the bench other than Jesse Winker, who lacks defensive value. Plus, Iglesias's offensive numbers in the play-offs are not great, which tells me he's wearing down a little (he's 34, after all). I know McNeil's vibe is not as 'positive' as some other guys, but vibes won't beat the Dodgers and Jeff was an extra base machine after the all-star break. Keep up the great work.

Yeah Joe Musgrove is the Padres pitcher that owns the Mets. He was the main reason I didn't want the Padres to win, but I heard Musgrove is injured, and not even on the roster. I don't mind Senga starting, like Samantha said, Dodgers haven't faced him much, and his ghost pitch might give them fits having to adjust to it. We have plenty of long relief guys, and 2 off days in this series. I can't see them benching Iglesias, he's the heart of this team, and is somewhat a good luck charm. The momentum may have slowed down for the Mets, 3 days off is a lot. They were a freight train with hardly any days off for so long, and now they've completely stopped. Dodgers are cruising, Mets have to start in first gear again. The good thing is it's a 7 game series, and I can totally see the Mets losing the first 2 games, but coming back strong to win it. Mets have magic on their side, and even if they're down 0-3 in the series, they'll truly believe they'll come back.

The pitcher you are thinking of from the 2022 wildcard series against the Padres was Joe Musgrove. He was absolutely dominating the Mets lineup in the final game of that series and the shiny ear thing was essentially a last resort attempt to get him out of the game by Buck to try and have a chance against their bullpen. That was a pretty bad look for us. I think the drama is much more interesting with Mets vs Dodgers given what happened in the NLDS in 2015, especially since they're the bad guys in that storyline. It would be amazing if the Mets would invite Ruben Tejada to throw out the first pitch of game 3.
