Metzeler: The Road to Legend - a story about road racing

Webdocumentary on the Metzeler 2013 Road Racing season. An adventure which lasted from March. Starting with the presentation at the Ace Cafe in London to 2013, to Macau in November via the North West 200, the Isle of Man TT, and the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix. A journey that lasted 10 months, full of hope, hard work, great challenges, disappointments and victories for the Metzeler riders. A year where every time the rider faces the risks of the road, the one goal is to make a single dream come true: become a legend.

Like boxing there are levels, the TT is the top drawer, el presidente, numero uno, head honcho, the main cop, the man, well men. 🙈 it scares the absolute shit out of me just watching them and i was a lunatic when i was younger but nowhere near 5% this level. It is outstanding in this health and safety world that the TT is left alone to continue its spectacle for generations to come.

I strongly believe that Guy Martin would have won TT many times, if he would be riding Honda , not Suzuki. He is one of best ever, and i just hope that he can win soon..... All the best Guy, you are my hero !

personally I think their might be a psychological issue with him he keeps stating when he's won an isle of man tt he'will stop and I think that’s stopping him winning one because if the truth was known he probably never wants to stop road racing and i hope he goes on for a long time

Well he's riding with Honda this year so we'll see how that goes. He hasn't had any TT success with both Suzuki and BMW, who have performed very well with other riders. So many Guy Martin fanboys out there. I strongly believe that people only think Guy is "one of the best ever" because he is the only road racer out there who the general public are aware of, because of his "celebrity" status. The fact of the matter is that the likes of Michael Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness are the superior riders by a long shot. All they do is race bikes, they don't fanny about on TV trying to break land speed records, or skip the TT to go off and ride mountain bikes. That's why they are the ones with the TT medals and not Guy. I've nothing against Guy, but people making statements about why he hasn't won a TT takes away from the achievements of the riders that have dedicated their lives to the sport.

Guy Martin will win the 2014 tt i have faith in him and believe he is the next tt king. Jeffries was my favorite the big man showed that balls overcomes a extra few pounds when your life is on the line. He definitly proved that. I see this kind of speed out of guy Martin and know he will succeed his tt goal.

Soz but the US did not invent motor racing. First ever motor race (cars) was in France and bike racing was introduced by the UK in 1897. Drag racing did start in the US, as did oval racing. The best racing circuits are in Europe, probably the best of the best is either the Nurburgring, or Lemans. Best closed circuit is probably Spa Francorchamp Best ever road race was probably the Mille Miglia in Italy, only real men need apply, sadly no more though. Close to 200 mph for 1000KM on public roads during the 50's and 60's, by pure race cars.

***** I'm not sure where you're from, but I'm from the U.S. Everything you just wrote sounds incredible if it were also here. You seem pretty knowledgeable in the area whereas I'm am not. Why do you think road racing isn't big here in the States? Drag racing in my opinion is cool to watch for about 20-30 minutes, then it's boring as hell. Nascar, the Indy 500 and as you called it "oval racing" is HORRIBLE. I just finished watching all the races from last week's Isle of Man. Although I wasn't very impressed with the actual coverage ( it's a 1 1/2 race that they cut and edited down to 45 minutes MINUS a MAJOR amount of commercials. ). I would have loved it if they covered the entire race and made it a big event like it really is. I waited all year to watch these races and was so disappointed by the way they broadcasted it. Meanwhile Nascar can take up 3-4 hours of time on television.

Yes Guy on the right bike would have been a winner no question !!! Just like fucking Hamilton in F1 Right car right place right time but and a big but some HAVE made it without the right car/bike and in the wrong place and the wrong time!!!!!!!!!!!! These are /were the Heros !! When you get to a certain level you are almost all equal but and again a big but the machine and support group get ya through no question.. I thank god that Guy has been in the right place at the right time for his latest carrreer move stay with the T.V.... presenting format Guy cos it suits you and you suit it you are a winner fella cos you are still here with a family etc etc etc ...............Guy is probably the bigger winner of all the T.T. riders/road race loonatics for the affiore mentioned reasons !!!!!!!!!!!! But sadly in his own heart of hearts he probably feels like a loser and will i guess always regret not having won a T.T.race even if he says thats not true ????????????? Road racing is just like F1 in the very early days you never know when its your time and it does get to the best as is the case with Senna Then and only then do you realise how sweet life really is.. NOW lets talk Mr Dunlop and i dont mean Mikel as good as he is No we are talking Joey He would have won on a bloody sewing machine with wheels cos thats what he was like and he, amongs a very few, would have always won NO NO not a sentimental old fart talking its true it really is just look at the stats.. Yes he road a honda but he gort to the honda through riding what most would probably call scarp !!!!!!!!! ianisme I would disagree. They are necessary as not everyone can understand those accents. They weren't a distraction for me as they don't cover much of the screen. Nevertheless, it would have been better if they were integrated into the KZbin player to give people the option to turn them on/off.
