this documentary is amazing to watch, the amount of proffesionalism the Danes have is beautiful to see.

I'm very impressed with these two men: the captain of the ship, and Rudi. What the captain says at 25:27 - 26:57 almost had me in tears. This is why he has been chosen as the captain; he's very intelligent, logical, calm, and when needed, firm. But he's not a cold blooded killer. He exercises restraint, empathy, understanding and intelligence. 26:27 - "It's a tone that, as a Danish citizen, I find unfortunate". 27:06 - 27:38 - demonstrated the words of a very intelligent, and humanitarian soldier. Like his captain, he doesn't believe in savage killing for the sake of it. For me, both of these two men put Denmark on the map as being one of the most civilised and intelligent societies in the world. I have a lot of respect after watching this for the fire power and strength of the Danish forces, which could literally melt those Somali pirates in the sea, and I have a lot of respect for the Danish people. What an excellent upload.

Det må de enkelte lande på det afrikanske kontinent bestemt også tage deres del af ansvaret for.

It's wrong and difficult how people mock the Danes for doing their jobs, it's not always easy, different countries operate under different laws and circumstances, international task forces are all the more difficult, it's easy to sit back and say oh well we would have done it differently but "we" weren't there. It's tough to let people you know are guilty go but sometimes one has to to maintain the standards of Justice, you can't have double standards. And P.S. screw the Russians, they suck, they just run in shooting, no tactics at all, that's why every hostage situation they get into half the hostages die. Unacceptable to Western Special Forces.

60 hp... those are rookie hp, I live in Greenland. No respectable Greenlander has less than 125 hp even on a 9-10 feet boat. It is a bit amusing with their obsession with speed. But then weather is unpredictable here and sometimes you need to get back quickly with a storm or blizzard coming in fast.

i am a merchant marine officer and i salute you guys for what you are doing. you are doing a great job. i am also against inhumane acts against these pirates coz i view them as human beings thus deserving for a proper justice. but what i do not understand is, after capturing images of them with ladders and all (including firearms if the circumstances arise) you still let them go? there is evidence right there. its no different than seing someone at the park with a rifle. give them (suspected pirates with parafernalias) minimum tolerance and maximum punishments, confiscate their gps, put them to jail for 6months atleast.

Only Drones used by the Danish Defense is the RQ-11 Raven, and that's primarily used by the Army (mostly for Artillery Spotting, but also just general recon).

A good series so far. I laugh at the Internet warriors with their talk of shooting and drowning. I'm also sure they are likely upset at the topless sunbathing. I have seen an off-duty crew smoking a hookah pipe and there is undoubtedly some inter-mural horizontal dancing :-). Far better, no doubt, to get falling down drunk in a bar and find a diseased prostitute. Congrats to Denmark for being grown-ups.

After watching this and the previous I've got to say it seems the Danes are what the U.S.A. used to be. I do acknowledge that I haven't got any direct experience with this sort of thing but I do think I get where American culture has ended up. I really was impressed with how the Danish captain and crew handled themselves. Professional, careful, following international law and no cowboy stuff. Of course the media sure seemed to have an "I know better" attitude so I guess the culture isn't completely different is it? One thing I just don't get is why photo and eyewitness evidence and testimony aren't enough to prosecute even if the pirates throw evidence overboard. I wonder why what the crew got wasn't enough!

I dont know how many documentaries english speaking countries make on their military. There are a lot in Denmark. We havbe documentaries and series fro special forces, the pirate situation as you see here, the troops in Afghanistan and also the air force. All going in depth and behind the scenes.

If I am being caught by a camera with a gun in my hand on a boat.. dropping it in the water or not .. while being filmed.. how can that change my case? Well, I understand and agree that you can't simply beat up or kill or just arrest those suspected pirates indefinitely. But regarding the specific case shown here, with images from the helicopter proving that they had a ladder, I would guess the case against them is about as strong as against a known drug dealer standing in a known drug area, who is observed by cops to have a bag of white powder on him, who actually runs from the police and is observed by the chasing officers to drop something into the sewers just before he lets himself get arrested. Would be ridiculous if police had to let him go because "there is no evidence he was about to sell drugs."

I did not see the marines throw the ladder in the sea, but replacing the engine was a fantastic good idea. Not shown was suppling the pirates with pork meat for eating. That is not illegal, less was the painting of the cross on the side of the skiff. Rescued and humiliated returning to shore, with a christian symbol on the boat, , i guess the guys were severely beaten up by their boss when returning to shore . In the west we call so action, caught from behind with the pants on the knees, humilated with the lifes saved.

We're not at war with Somalia. We can't just attack people on Somalian territory without it being a declaration of war. That's also why they don't simply bomb the pirate bases on land. That may change if the situation remains the same however, since the Somalian government doesn't seem to care about the criminals at all.

They joke about it only because the G3 is the old main assault rifel in the Danish army. So all of them have been using it when they first came into the millitary. And it's a bit strange to find them in Somalia

But it's not illegal to sail around with a ladder. It proves that they could be pirates but not that they are pirates. Obviously we all "know" that they're pirates but you have to prove it. Not just "know" it.

selling crack cocaine is better money but that doesn't mean it is honorable nor decent. Theft, kidnapping, terror and murder should be dealt with severly, even proof that is observed, but they destroy it counts. Shoot a few holes in the boat and let them go, If they make it to shore, ok, next time they may not or decide that fishing is safer. MAYBE saw a small chunk out of one propeller blade to identify the boat again Unforturnately it would limit the speed home but.... One guy was distressed that the press at home "misrepresented" their role and actions but you know beyond doubt when you get a pirate. Catch and release simply means he got away scot free, made an ass of them and as soon as they get more guns and another ladder, they are out there preying on ships and crews. I understand that the laws forbid merchant ships to have weapons so these slimb balls are free to continue their predatory activity. If there is a big chance they drown or be hung, that would be the best deterrent. Thanks to those men and beautiful women for doing it and it is too bad bureaucrats can subvert proper punishment in the name of civilization which these critters have not reached yet.
