Very impressed with Tul. Though he is the fiancée, he never pushed himself forward. Instead, he was always ready with a helping hand. Love how he prayed reverently before snipping Mew's hair, & bowing deeply after that. Youre a fine, well brought-up young man,Tul. Kudos. 🌟

It was with great respect and joy that I was able to see the photos and videos of Mew Suppasit's ordination as a Buddhist monk. He has embarked on a spiritual journey to devote himself fully to meditation, the study of the Buddha's teachings and the search for inner peace. Through this journey, Mew is once again demonstrating his depth of heart and his desire to grow in wisdom and kindness. We know how much this commitment represents a moment of transformation for him, an opportunity to recharge his spiritual batteries, and an approach that inspires deeply. We wish him serenity and light in this precious quest. May these weeks bring him lasting spiritual richness and peace. May we all keep Mew in our thoughts, and may we wish him a path to fulfilment and a return to what is essential.

Oo it is like in our Hindu tradition, in hindu brahmin before wedding ( nnow a days) or 5 to 11 years of age ,we do cermony called upanayanam or janoi after that they go to kashi yatra, than only groom will be aligible for marriage, i get it Buddhism came from Hinduism so most of them are similar

Yes... a lot of t ceremonies are very akin to our hindu traditions... the way he bowed to his parents .... and during the upanayan how everyone gives alms to the newly ordained one.... first being t guru then mother then rest follows.... loved it that these very modern rich thai kids are not forgetting their traditions.... unfortunately we Indians have really forsaken ours trying to fit in with western moulds..

The ordination ceremony, or Buat Nak in Thai, is a significant rite of passage for Thai men and a major part of Thai culture. It's a ceremony where a young man enters a monastery to study the teachings of the Buddha and become a monk for a period of time. The ordination ceremony is a way for men to express gratitude to their parents, and it's also believed to be a great way to gain merit for the ordained person and their family. Men may choose to be ordained for a variety of reasons, including to honor someone's memory, seek forgiveness, or to atone for transgressions. Short-term ordinations are unique to Thailand and are a huge honor to be invited to. Ordained men must train, practice, and embody the teachings of the Buddha. They live a simple life, focusing on necessities like food and clothing, so they can have more time to learn and gain wisdom. The chaotic lifestyle of today does not allow people to leave the worldly life behind for three months. The tradition has therefore changed. The monkhood period is shortened and varies from one week to 15 days or one month, depending on the time the person has available.

La cérémonie d'ordination est un moyen pour les hommes d'exprimer leur gratitude envers leurs parents, et on pense également qu'elle constitue un excellent moyen d'obtenir du mérite pour la personne ordonnée et sa famille. Les hommes peuvent choisir d'être ordonnés pour diverses raisons, notamment pour honorer la mémoire de quelqu'un, demander pardon ou expier des transgressions. Les ordinations à court terme sont uniques à la Thaïlande et constituent un immense honneur d'y être invité. call me ignorant of the culture. Mew & Tul are engaged and are still getting married, but Tul is being ordained (not sure if that is the correct word) as a buddist monk? Where can I find a documentary on this. Also how long will it be til they get married?

It is a Buddhist tradition where young adult men will be ordained into a monastery as a monk for a short period of time (Mew will be there 2-4 weeks). There are many reasons a man may choose to do it. It is often done to thank and honor parents and family, as it is a very respected tradition and shows appreciation for their support and guidance and offers great merit. Men also often choose to be ordained prior to marriage or to honor and acknowledge other significant life events, like a loss of a family member or recovering from a severe illness. While he’s in there, Mew will live as a monk, meditating, studying the dharma (Buddhist scripture) not speaking, not taking meals after a certain time of day, going out to collect food daily, etc… It’s seen as an opportunity for personal, spiritual growth and enlightenment. Tul was ordained when he was 18, I think. So he has been through this already.

It is a temporary ordination. It's different in Thaïland. It's not once a monk, always a monk. It's pretty common to get ordained like this :)
