I made this video for the memory of Jamie. So, one day when he’s got older, he can come back and remember this memorable ceremony that he’s done for his family and himself❤

WOW!!! So nice blog I ever seen in my life. Being a Buddhist I feel proud of Jimmy for his ordination. I also took ordination couple of years before in Bodh Goya. Thank you so much for your amazing blog where you show up how Buddhist people follow the lord Buddha path of Nibbana. I Love your impressive presentation ❤
Thanks, Opal, for sharing this touching video on the ordination of monkhood for Jamie. I used to hear much about the monk's ordination but have not seen the ceremony before. As this is my first time, I was emotionally overwhelmed and nearly shed tears over it. Jamie's parents are proud of their beloved son's duty to Buddha. I wish him success and good health to him and his family.
Such a wonderful and emotional video to watch! Goodluck to Jamie, I really admire what this young man is doing and I hope to see him again on your channel in a few weeks' time. Thank you Opal and Jamie for giving me an insight in this ceremony.

Whoa this is so cool! We always see them and maybe get to talk to them while visiting a temple but getting a close look at how someone becomes a monk is quite eye-opening.
Thanks Opal for sharing such a beautiful story about Jamie and his family and their journey ❤️ 😎👍

Thank you. I have been invited to a monk ordination in Ratchaburi next week wondering what it will be like. Now I know 😊🙏But being in the countryside I don’t expect to have an air conditioned cafe to escape from the heat…

Pabbajjā in Palī, means "to go forth" and refers to when a layperson leaves home to live the life of a Buddhist renunciate among the community of Buddhist monks. This is a common practice within Theravadin Buddhist community, for young boys to be trained as good men while repaying their gratitude to their parents. 🙏🏻

Thanks for making this video! I would love to know more about his experience, as I am planning to become a monk for a similar period of time quite soon. This video makes me very excited to become ordained, but I have some worries that my Thai language is not good enough, as a luk kreung who grew up outside of Thailand. Do you think they would accept my registration at this particular temple?

I must admit I am not well versed in the serving of the Monks. What is their assignments exactually? I thought the process was very interesting, but I am stumped as to why this particular process of removing the hair and eyebrows. Is it a worship cleansing? Also why such a short time to serve the monks? Beside disclosure of respect to his family. is there a spiritual calling???? Please do not take this in any negative fashion, I am just curious. I want to thank you for the filming of this ordination, I find it very interesting, I just like to continue to learn about other ways and cultures. Very much appreciate the sharing of this clip. Can this young monk choose to stay longer??

Cutting hair and eyebrows is the process to remind you to let go of Worldly things before entering Dhamma.
