Yea let me get one of those so dont have to use a pro controller or 3rd party gc controllers lol This is really interesting and great vid. An idea I think you guys try out is having the guys rewatch/review and analyze top tournament sets and just tell stories. But with each other rather than the format you guys did with m2k and salem. Also inviting other top players when they're in the area or other members of the mvg crew when they visit. I think this could be a good way to implement ways for you guys to combine the competitive with the personalities and insights people really like to get from these kinds of videos.

If you wanna get your hands on a decent GC controller without breaking your bank, try DKOldies. Though since they are original generation controllers, they'll probably have some of the errors listed in this vid. Mine def has the c-stick code problem, but I don't care since I rarely if ever use c-stick.

@packers12to80 I play a ton of smash I use A button and direction for all aerials, and actually do tilt inputs to do my tilts. C-stick is set to smash attack, but since I don't play am ooga booga character, it's not like I'm constantly throwing out smash attacks. Technically speaking, c-stick is completely unnecessary, since every input it's possibly used for can be completed manually. You must not play smash very much if you don't kmow this ;)

I have an xbox 360 controller that is really old, worn out, and I've had to fix 3 or 4 times. I tried using it for Melee on Dolphin a few times, and it was unplayable. The sticks are so bad that even with me configuring dolphin to compensate for the enormous center wiggle and position drift, they're so inaccurate it won't do any input reliably.

i have a "death" controller, it works on gamecube but if you plug it into a wii, the wii will power off completely. the green power light wont even turn yellow, it wont turn red, the whole wii shuts down completely with no power light as if theres no power source the second you plug in the controller

I use a gamecube controller for smash and a pro controller for all other games and if anything I'd say the switch pro controllers left stick wears out even quicker then gamecubes and I'm much rougher on my gamecube controllers.

So what I have learned here is if you are playing Melee is when you may invest so much in controllers. This makes things like Smashbox make more sense here as a reminder of a fair warning. That or just play Smash Ultimate with just a d pad which is possible with many third party controllers. I just switched from GC controller to Sega Genesis controller (USB by retrobit) just so i can always expect my inputs to be less confusing and more consistent.

I got so lucky. I had 11 or 12 at one point. But the one that has survived since 2003 has been the one I've stuck with. idk what makes it different, but it's the only controller I've used for over a decade period. Somehow I can still get near-perfect firefox angles and ledgedashes with it, good C-stick, shield drops, the only thing that seems spotty are pivots, but that might be just because I'm bad at them. Easily 10 thousand hours with that controller. It's covered in crust because I never have cleaned it but it's perfect. There's got to be some psychology involved with interpreting the hardware flaws from execution mistakes.
