I commend you so much for your dedication to getting this done. This video had me sick to my stomach, with tears streaming down my face. I do not have a lot of money, but I do have horses I love (one of which IS a slaughter-bound rescue), and I will do anything and everything requested to make this stop happening. I am wondering why the Mustang mare, who was already discovered before crossing the border was not confiscated? It is illegal to slaughter our Mustangs and authorities could have been called. I understand wanting to stay under cover for an investigation. But in doing so, this mare lost her life, which is both unconscionable & was preventable. The mare was already dead when she was posted on FB & you had already watched her go to slaughter. I am confused would truly appreciate the answer to this.

There is a way to take the kill buyers out of the picture, sort of. Each kill buyer is only there to make some money. An average profit off each animal he buys is about 50 dollars. So, at auctions find the kill buyers, talk to them, and ask them how many animals they are prepared to buy and take away. Multiply that number by 50 and offer them that much to just take their trailer and leave now. If they take the offer, the unwanted horses can be bought and rescued VERY cheaply.

Once any horse goes to title (including "mustangs") they legally become private property. The only legal protection is the one year "proof of maintenance and care" before title is issued. There are a number of mustang herds, such as the historic Virginia Range horses in Nevada, that don't even have that minimal protection.

God Bless You Rickard Couto!! My horse was stolen and victim of slaughter in April. I am saddened that the people involved were not punished, but when investigations are opened, I feel a little at ease because although it continues, more people become aware as the truth is brought forward. I know my horse was not alone. Millions have joined her. And my heart aches for them all. Words cannot express to you how thankful I am to have you on our side. I am opposed to horse slaughter. But we cannot allow our horses(our problem)to be exported south of the border.That should be the most important issue,not outlawing abattoirs in U.S. No horse should be transported confined for more than 2 hours.No horse should be repeatedly stabbed in the neck until paralyzed. No horse should be allowed to sustain wounds and not have wounds treated.I want the animal activists to work on this.Because there are horses right this second being executed.IN TERROR!!

Now more than ever people who had horses have had to sell them or even give them away. They cost a lot to care for, feed and maintain. My daughter has a Mustang that was rescued. He was born in the wild and raised by the herd for at least a year. He's such a wonderful friend, no...family member. Part of our family. My girl helps when she can to find homes for horses that are at rescue ranches. Like "Blue Sky Horse Rescue". Just to name one. But there aren't enough. Go to their site to see. ....

Don Teague If I were starving to death I’d rather fucking starve to death than butcher my horse. I was anorexic for over a decade, I am well adjusted to the pain of starvation and quite frankly I value the lives of others far more than my own. That includes animals. If I die saving an animal, I die saving an animal. At least the animal was saved, in the grand scheme of things I mean nothing. Also for the record I don’t eat meat or dairy and the only animal byproduct I eat is eggs from my pet chickens because they’ve unfortunately been bred to the point where they lay far too many eggs and they have to go somewhere. I would rather give animals a second chance at life than just let them be murdered for a few moments of pleasing my taste buds. I won’t contribute to condemning innocent creatures to a life of abuse and death. Second of all, Americans realize how much the horse has done for humanity. We may be greedy but at least, unlike other countries, we can acknowledge that horses built civilization and fought wars with us and they deserve better than to be some snotty European’s food. Pretty shit way to repay the animal our survival once hinged on, don’t you think? Also, horses here are pets and they’re giving medicine that is not safe for human consumption so no, it would not be healthier. And of course like I said, Americans see horses as pets. Why don’t you just be like China and murder your dog? Fry up your cat? Oh right, those are pets too. Wow, what a double standard am I right. Fuck you dude, fucking nasty European.
