Mexico’s Third Gender

In Tehuantepec, a town in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, Lukas Avendaño and fellow muxes live beyond the gender binary. A muxe is an individual assigned male at birth who behaves outside roles traditionally associated with masculinity. Sometimes referred to as a third gender, muxe identity pre-dates Spanish imperialism in the Zapotec region. For Lukas, dressing in feminine Zapotec clothing is a political act, giving everybody the power and the liberty to decide who they want to be.

The problem is that SJWs who espouse these kinds of "views" dont leave it at that. After they get you to accept the rational concept that everyone should be loved and accepted regardless of who they have romantic interest in, they start trying to change the perception of biology in order to fit their narrative. Nugget, what about intersex people? There are a number of humans born who present both external forms of genitalia. There are others who may discover late in life that they possess internal organs of the opposing gender (one fascinating case of a grandfather who had surgery and the doctors discovered a small uterus inside him - how crazy would that be!). Biology is rarely simple. This is a fascinating story for the culture and etymology it describes.

Interesting huh, I think people in the comments section are missing the point, I know this subject is a little touchy to some people, but the person in the video even said that If they ask them what gender they are, it's the thing they think about the least. They're expressing themselves. And in terms of gender identity, it isn't binary, it isn't just set in stone they're taking characteristics and roles of what is considered to be feminine at a given period in time and they classify that as a 3rd gender.

Y'know, when people say "there's only two genders", what they really mean is there's only two *sexes*, and even that's incorrect since intersex people are a thing. And it's not just muxes either; India has Hijra and Native Americans have Two Spirits. These cultures have accepted the concept of a third gender for *hundreds of years*, yet it's taken us until just now to properly shine a light on them. Sex is biological and gender is cultural. It's really not that hard to grasp.
