MF204 Forklift Wont Move Up Hill | Transmission Fluid/Filter Change Massey Ferguson 204 Forklift

This is the third video (playlist linked below) in a series on fixing up this old 1960s Massey Ferguson 204 forklift. This forklift is built off from a work bull tractor with a reverse-o-matic (instant reverse) transmission. It has had trouble moving up hills or any kind of incline so I am changing the transmission fluid and filters to try to fix the problem.
This video encompasses changing the transmission fluid and gear box oil. I show what fluids go in which places. We also adjusted the throttle linkage and lubed the mast chains.

The oil level dipstick is located in the side cover of the rear axel housing, this is the oil level indicator for the rear axel and transmission level.

Install new shift lever boots to help keep water from getting into the transmission.

WD 40 has limited lubricating properties. You should something like spray lithium or oil.

Yes. They are pretty stiff and I’m hoping the wd40 helps loosen them up a bit. I’ll definitely get some oil on them soon. Good call. Thank you!

Interesting enough I have a supercharger by McCollough that is supposed to take Type A ATF. Type A is from the 50s and is mainly whale oil. That's why you can't get it anymore.

Would that be the same McCollough that makes chainsaws?

Yes. He sold his supercharger business and started the chainsaw business. After a few years some racers asked him to make superchargers again. Since he had sold his name he used his middle name. Thus was born the Paxton superchargers.
