Great upgrade! That z6 final drive is a solid bump over your y7 so down the road a 4.7fd will blow your mind. Glad to see you guys getting back in the saddle!

I am glad I ordered a shirt from you guys. Great work with the car. Waiting for you to go B series one day. For the mounts I did a little method of putting 100% polyurthane glue from home depot and let it harden over night so its solid.

Why is my y8 trans not going into my z6 block not aligning could it be my stock mounts for 99 civic or what can it be I already aligned clutch with tool

Not to be a total critic, but did Patrick recommend the helical LSD? Helical isn’t exactly “race”, but it will make a big difference I imagine. Generally, people who race use plate-type LSD’s
@MFactoryTV5 жыл бұрын
The plate LSD was initially chosen but it was a hard decision to make with the budget constraints. Ultimately, it was decided that the close ratio gears would provide better results alongside the more affordable helical.

When filling transmission fluid you should be using the hole you mentioned fluid coming out of. Honda OEM fluid is ok for factory and daily driving, would definitely use the Torco for race use though.
@MFactoryTV5 жыл бұрын
Fluid filling can be simplified with a long funnel. Remove the VSS and insert the funnel into the hole and pour 2 liters in.
@Bentlyco0p5 жыл бұрын
@@MFactoryTV I've done this too, however Honda did provide a way with a fill plug above the drain plug , completed with a hand pump like in the video.
@MFactoryTV5 жыл бұрын
@@Bentlyco0p Honda may have a by the book proper procedure but Honda techs do it the VSS method because it's faster and doesn't involve using a pump plus it's just as accurate.

@esnebta5 жыл бұрын
Don't ditch that final. If you ever have to dump that trans, please hit me up. The 3.722 final on the 96-00 civic HX and the 96-00 hatchbacks is a good final drive to use with the d16z6 / d16y8 trans with the mfactory 3/5. I ran this setup back in 2007.
