Hi Jerry. Jesus.. I was just relieved you don’t ask questions at the end. I been working through your videos and they are GREAT. My problem is remembering all you’ve taught me. My new ZS EV Trophy is due in three weeks and I thought it would be a good idea to ‘bone’ up. I think that if a night school course was available I would be very tempted to enroll🤔. @@JerryPanandCars Hi Jerry. If they’re the same quality as your other videos, they will be both amazing, and very helpful. I’m really looking forward to them. MG don’t supply a written manual, however there is a PDF one, but I’m sure it misses a lot of your content, I’ve had a look and the section on using Apple CarPlay is scant, it has nowhere the detail of you video relating to this. However I’m considering copying sections of the salient parts and producing an abridged A5/ring file manual with an index. I think this will be easier to navigate during my learning phase. When I purchased my current car, a BMW 3-Series Touring, I camped out in it for 2days, until I was familiar with it. Funnily I really enjoyed doing this, and thought it better than trying to familiarise myself whilst driving. Many thanks for your help. Cheers Noel.

Great video. I ah e a question in regards to google maps With Apple play. I drive a right hand drive mg hs. The screen displays google Map with the navigation Payne on the right and the route on the left. Where it showed the route on the right - closer to the driver before in my old mg zs. Do you know how to change this?

Nice explanation. Will you be doing a similar video about Android Auto? Also, where is the best place to put your phone when you have it plugged into the USB port so it is in a safe place so it doesn't slide or rattle around? On top of the cover for the USB area?

Thanks for the comment. Yes I will be doing a similar video about the Android Auto. There is no best place for the phone unfortunately. The ZST's storage place under the screen is probably the best. For HS, it is probably easier to place it by the cup holder.

I hope there maybe a future update to the Media Centre that allows wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play as the cables look untidy (I have a new car that was not able to be fitted with DAB Radio, due to chip shortage, so I already have a USB cable running from the factory fitted aerial on the windscreen to a USB socket. I hope that gets fixed soon too!)

This is a great video, thanks heaps. I have a new Mg ZST Excite, and have connected by cable for Car play. During conversation the car play stops working but I can hear the person on iPhone asking if I can hear them. Why did it stop going through the Apple CarPlay on car speaker? Is it my phone? TIA.

While it is reading messages, you can try and adjust the volume. I believe there is two volume settings. one for the music and one for voices.

Just bought a HS excite, decent car but the fact there is only one 12v point on the car is a bit disappointing. I have a dashcam and the location of the 12v point means the cable/plug sticks up and I can’t close the cover. Carplay would also be better if it connected wirelessly.

Not sure as we don't have MG5 in New Zealand. Most likely you just need to lower the volume to zero or press "home" button until the screen shuts off.

Do you know why and if there is a fix for the car constantly disconnecting apple Car play. I have to unplug and then plug again so many times. And it is not the “allow CarPlay while locked” as that is turned on. This has been an issue everytime I have rented an MG. Any help would be appreciated

First, use genuine cable and reset your phone car play setting. Second, the screen could do a software update if possible.

I was thinking of buying a very short one then for my iphone and seeing if I could fit the phone in the area where the USB ports are (MG HS). Car is delivered in another week which is why I don't know these things yet. I am trying to avoid having a cable run along the transmission area as I don't like the look but if I have to I have to. You cannot change that as this is related to how the manufacture sets the screen. The screen then tells CarPlay to go left hand drive or right hand drive.
