Hi Bjorn, great video. I’ve done the same test with my MG4 LFP in the UK and I was able to replicate 85kw charging at 12c at IONITY. I’m surprised you had coldgate issues in 30c temps. I’m thinking software has something to do with the charging limitations as i preconditioned and yo-yo’d into the charger with low SoC - just a thought. I’m sure software will get better over time but I agree it drives like a German car and is well planted and for the price point it’s hard not to overlook the car. If you want to come to the UK you’re more than welcome to test my MG4 SE SR. I have a Tesla M3 LR perhaps colab UK trip with both cars?😉

What would be interesting to add to your tests is the satnav and if it adds charging stops automatically. I think that’s a really important feature in EV’s and it’s sometimes (often) missing. And it’s also missing from most tests on KZbin.

Agree, note Bjorn was using his Google maps. I would expect, in time, Android Auto will eventually interface with battery / efficiency data from an ev and plot charging points en route. I don't think the Trophy has this feature built in and if it does no one has featured it in their reviews.

Great test. I have seen other tests where charging speed did not exceed 85 Kw/h. In France, UK, Itraly... MG is selling the MG4 with the small 51 Kw/h battery. Black interior, 16 inch steel wheels with wheel covers. In France, it sells for 29 k€, 23 k€ after government incentive. Prices are simillar in other markets. They are also selling the 64 Kw NMC battery version in two trim levels. Your interior color is an option on the top of the line Luxury version. There is a smart battery heating setting which is supposed to improve charging speed, but also increases consumption. I took delivery of a 51 kw MG4 a week ago. Great car, but first impression is that range is quite affected by cold temperatures (slightly negative). Would be curious to see a cold weather test of the LFP version. Maybe MG is not selling the LFP version in Norway for that reason, but if they are, a cold weather test would be fantastic. Look forward to your test of the 64 Kw version as well.

@amiddled7 ай бұрын
@@alexandrak4464that statement is also true for the LFP version. Although LFP is somewhat less resistant to degradation than NMC when regularly charged to 100%, you will still be extending the life of the battery. The main reason for the 100% charging recommendation on LFP battery cars is that this can help the BMS with calibration as the voltage drop is lower in LFP batteries - which can make the BMS less accurate overtime.

Good driving review. Why don't we get that lighter interior in the UK MG4 models? Our models are so dark inside & with no rear passenger lighting it makes it impossible to see anything in the back at night. No grab handles or rear wiper either. All hatchbacks, SUV's & Estate's should have a rear wiper so I just don't know why so many manufacturers are leaving the off these days. It's a good car at a reasonable price but the specification on UK models let it down. Switch off the Lane Assist. I've never found a single car yet that it works properly on without scaring the life out of the driver at some point.
