@@hottegkt511 I think he could be misunderstood in a couple of places in this video, 'cause he says a couple of times that the car is quiet, but he's talking about the lack of plings and plongs, not road noise. Later he talks about road noise.

Thank you for the detailed test! I think it could be the best affordable candidate when the time comes to replace my loved Ioniq 28 (second hand, of course). It looks like many of the characteristics and features are very similar or better. And my previous 3 cars all were station wagons.

Watched all your MG5 vids and I still think the Volvo V70 estate crown is still up for grabs though this is a good attempt. Most of the issues can be fixed by OTA update For the price can't complain too much

Thanks for a great summing up Bjørn! At one point I felt you really didn't like the car (worrying as I've ordered one) But in the end the car impresses by its general all round competence and family friendly features. The "bouncy" handling sounds like it may be the result of a compromise between the spring and damper rates chosen by the factory. Possibly a change of dampers, for better rebound control, would transform the handling for European roads? Anyway thanks for all the good work bringing your experience of so many EVs and their real world performance to our devices. Its really helpful.

I suspect that this bouncy behavior is because it's an ICE based platform (GM Opel/Vauxhall Astra etc), that's now a heavier EV. I took the new MG5 for a test drive, and especially the speed bumps was challenging for the car.

The MG probably feels more Western because the main design studio is still in the brand's heritage heartland of England.

MG cars have their British heritage carry on, even though they are made in China they are designed here in UK and it shows in the car. Having had a MG 3 that car drives real nice, I'm now thinking of getting a MG 4.

Did you car have a smelly heater as well? I just did a test drive with a very new one and could not stand the chemical smell witch was coming from the heater. Otherwise mine was pretty neutral in smells.

That should go away by time :)

This car is/was top of my list for a possible first ev. But the charging problems you had in the 1000km really put me off. Here you say it not a big deal though, maybe a one off. So now I’m not sure how much weight to give that. Anyway, big fan of the channel, and one thing’s for sure - if it hasn’t been reviewed by Bjorn, I’m not buying it!

I have a ZS bought in march 2022 and had this charging problem once only. I have unscrewed the negative terminal of the 12V battery and screwed it back and the problem was solved. I guess it was because the DC charger had a problem and my wife tried to launch an AC charge from the car. I have tried the MG4 and ordered one. It will replace my ZS.

Had the MG5 since May - no charging issues so far (except due to faulty chargers, but that’s not the cars fault…).

@@art322 By the way, for those who are interested, it is easy to make a V2L adapter for 30 euros. You can find how to do it on internet. Basically, it is just a cheap Type2 to schuko adapter and you change the resistor inside.

Had delivery of mine back in May done 17000km so far no problems.Enjoying a lot of your reviews and test it is probably the reason i did change to an EV

I don`t get that this car sell more than it does.. Price, space and consumption is good. And it has wtl and small capasaty tow hook. It should suit a lot of people`s needs.

All the cars car testers get are ALWAYS maxed out. I never saw a single review about the 50kwh battery cause it's shitty...

ZS slows down alot when in eco mode, almost no slowdown in normal or sport. And the ding warnings was fixed with a very early upgrade. :-)

Could you describe the ride as floaty and a little underdamped? You said it was comfortable, so I guess quite soft and absorbs bumps. Most surprising point here is that its fun to drive. Like it.

There was a one off, or perhaps prototype, made of a BYD Han SW. It looked awesome. Bjorn, I hope you can do a full review of the Ora Funky Cat once it's available in Norway. I know you've done quite a lot with the Thai versions of this car. It would be interesting to see if any of the software or hardware has been tweaked for the European market.
