I replace the clutch slave cylinder and hose on a 76 MGB that was towed into the shop after the clutch quit working while the owner was driving it.

I replaced the master and slave cylinders on my resto 62 MGB, and for the life of me couldn't get them to bleed so the clutch would work, until I used your method. Made a cap and used my cordless tyre inflator. Thank You, great video!

This is by far the best video on bleeding the clutch that I have ever seen. I have a 67 MGB. Thank you for the help...

I wish that you had a video on how to change the clutch master cylinder on a 67 MGB. It looks like a nightmare!

I can tell you from experience that it is indeed not easy. I have a '64 MGB.

Awesome video, straight forward step by step. I had a midget back in the 80's. Now looking at a 77 B. Any advice? Run? lol

MGB’s are good cars, and can be a bit easier to work on than Midgets. Condition, condition, condition…. Rust is more time consuming and expensive to deal with than mechanical issues. Buy the best you can for your price range and if your not sure what you’re look at, find someone who knows to go with you. Join the local club ( if you’re not already a member) BEFORE you buy as the members will almost always be willing to steer you away from bad cars and to good ones.

Thank you! In your experience, does it matter if the new replacement slave cylinder lacks the small pedestal foot that supports the back of the cylinder against the side of the transmission? My original lockheed cylinder had it but the new one I just bought on Amazon doesn't.

I haven’t seen one without the pedestal in years ( I source all my parts from Moss, even the cheapest one they sell has it these days ) I know John Twists says to stay away from ones that don’t have it, but I’ve never actually had a problem with them when I did see them other than they are made cheaper and don’t last quite as long before they start leaking. I theory they can flex a bit without the support, but it never seemed to actually effect the operation of the few I have installed. I you wanted you could find a small washer of the right thickness and sandwich it under the body for support and us a dab of suitable epoxy to make sure it stays.

since it is likely the master & slave are about the same age, it is likely the master is soon to follow with a failure. Best to do both at once since the master is not that expensive and bleeding is a pita

You have a point in that the current aftermarket master cylinders are pretty cheap, but I find slave cylinders don’t seem to last nearly as long as the master cylinders do. Many MG owners are pretty thrifty and would rather replace the slave cylinder only if they can though.

It gave me so much stress looking at how dirty that car is underneath
