MGB's are so well made cars, considering they are 1962 technology, they were the first car to have crumple zone, monocoque construction and they have such a great throaty noise from the exhaust. I've got a 67 GT, I absolutely love it

They are simple to work on. LOTS of room in engine bay (when's the last time you saw that?). It doesn't require a $100K computer for diagnostic testing either.

I've had an MG since the early 70s. Still have my '73 BGT that I bought new. Its in my blood. Don't think I could ever get used to a RH driver.

That was so beautiful to see a classic old girl back on the road, I always feel there is a hint of nostalgia about seeing a classic on the road because you see the modern day heap either in front or behind one and then you look again at the classic and you just think 'yeah, that is what laid the way for some of the awful cars of today, give me the classic any day'

Very unusual to see an Aussie complementing a car built in England. Normally they never give us 'Poms' credit for anything.

Lol thanks. The MG has always been a popular choice for a classic here in Australia!

johnalmason... Many MGBs were made in Australia.
@johnalmason

Jeff Hildreth...they weren't 'made' in Australia as such. What you mean is they were shipped from England as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits and were assembled at BMC's plant in Oz to avoid tariff barriers and to reduce shipping costs. These CKD kit cars were usually shipped in batches of four, six or twelve and were sent minus hood, interior trim and paint. The first batches were sent over in November 1962, with the first car coming off the local assembly line on 4th April 1963. BMC Australia assembled its last kit MGB on 6th November 1972. Australian sources claim 9993 cars assembled locally, but that number is wrong because it includes a number of MGB GTs which were fully assembled in England before being shipped out. Of the 512,243 MGBs that were built, BMC Australia only ever assembled 9090 of them (of which 5064 were Mk.I Roadsters). So there's a bit more to it than just saying 'many MGBs were made in Australia'. Sorry, but that's inaccurate. I own an MGB, and have actually read about its history. The 70-74 models may be the most trouble-free. I have a friend who put over 120K miles on his '72 with no problems.
