I will remove the dashboard from the car and refurbish it. This includes rebuilding the components and powder coating the metal dash. See how it turns out.

Nice job, dash is looking very pretty now. I used some high temperature crackle black paint on mine. Sprayed it on and used a heat gun on it and it came out looking great, with a very original looking crackle black finish. I was actually very surprised how well it turned out. Following along with interest from over here in the UK.

I always enjoy hearing from across the pond. (Also known as the cradle of civilization) I get a lot of parts from Rimmer Brothers. I am happy you enjoyed the program. There will be many more to follow. Soon I will be sending the old girl off to paint. Have not yet found a place to do it yet. Thank you again for your comments. Cheers, Bob

@ I’m not too sure how civilised we are over here ! Interestingly we live a few miles from Ironbridge in Shropshire known as the birth place of industry.

Great job Robert! Love how it turned out especially the powder coating! I have to restore the dash on my 72B. How did you polish the chrome gage lenses?

Nice to hear from you. I used steel wool. Go back and look at the little chrome strip on the glove box. I was surprised how good that came out. I use steel wool first on all the chrome. I am doing the wiper mechanism now. (will be part 10) I will use steel wool on that and show it in the video. On another topic. I found a 1975 MGB. It is all there, including hard top. It has not run and has been sitting for 11 years. No rust on it. It is free, the lady just wants it gone. Unfortunately, there is no title and she says it is is the name of here late father in law. I told her I can't take it without a title. I will let you know what happens.

Thank you for the comment. I used steel wool and my thumb. The rubber seal around the gauge and between the gauge and the dash I purchased from Moss. Thank you so much for watching. Cheers, Bob

Love the final finish and look. Did you test all the gauges beforehand? I found apart from the speedo and tachometer it’s often more economical to buy new Smiths gauges than refurb the old ones. In the UK you can still get Smiths to customise gauges to suit your car even down to replicating the aged look of the gauge faces.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I did test the other gauges so far so good. One interesting thing I found out was that the older MGB, like this one, does not have Smiths gauges. It has Jaeger which were a bit pricy. A lot of the parts I refurbish I may end up replacing once the car is together and running. Thanks again. Cheers Bob
