I work at a MGM property here in Las Vegas. This system shut down started on Sunday, not Monday.

One odd thing that’s happening is with the elevators. I’m staying in a Sky Suite at Aria. I’m not sure if it’s anywhere else, but there’s an employee in each elevator to push the floor button for you. One of the employees told me that it was because someone was stuck in the elevator on the 30th floor and the emergency phone didn’t work. Each employee has a radio that they can use if they get stuck. They are employees from all over MGM. She worked in the legal department and was helping out. If you’re thinking about canceling your trip, the most annoying thing about this is the TITO system. Every time you cash out, a slot attendant has to come pay you in cash. There are dozens of machines playing their jackpot songs for 20 cents or less. Most people are just walking away from the machines instead of waiting for the attendant. It was nice meeting Anthony and Andrew tonight at the video poker tournament. I won’t spoil the outcome. Looking forward to you talking about it in the next episode!

Speaking about Borgata in AC. Stayed Sept. 11. After everything being FUBAR until 4 pm, you could use your players' card in machines and access free play, but not comps. I keep records of my tier points, MGM points (free-play points) and comp totals after every visit. A trip to the players club after playing a few hours confirmed that I was earning comp $ and points but could not access it. Buying food was cash only. Machines eventually started spitting out TITOS after hand-pays most of the day. Heard that later in the week the hand-pay stuff started again. Hotel check-in was paper and pen, but the room keys worked just fine.

Also don't trust anything MGM emails you if you are a MGM rewards member, treat them all as phishing emails.

Just spent the week at Beau Rivage in Biloxi. It was as described but I must say that the entire staff there were extremely attentive and kind throughout the entire fiasco. Kudos to them!

I think it is the mobile phone app keys that can't function because the MGM app is down, not the plastic card keys issued at the property because I can't imagine they have actual key holes for physical keys on the rooms now. I would cancel if staying at MGM properties over the next week because if you are a slot/VP player, absolutely every cash out is a hand pay right now, TITO and player's card are not working on the machine right now. But of course the bill acceptor's are just fine! 🤣

I have a full comp trip scheduled in 2 weeks at the MGM Beau Rivage in Biloxi (air/hotel/food) If they do not get it resolved by then, I will cancel the reservation, even though it is all comped. The reason is, when you use a comped trip, there is an expectation of a certain amount of play....Since there is a chance the rewards card use and play amount may not be tracked properly, there is a good chance going would have a very negative impact on future offers. In looking at the long term, it is not worth the risk I think....?

Not related to this cyber attack, but sine you commented about food credits and charging to room, I routinely receive food credit from various resorts and as instructed I charge my restaurant visits to my room, well during my last three visits to Vegas additional room charges showed up on my bill that I did not authorize, each time I worked with the front desk or my host to get them removed but I highly recommend everyone keep copies of your restaurant bills and be careful who you tell your room number too, I wonder if this is some sort of criminal ring working with restaurant staff

I have a friend who works for MGM in their advertising dept. Today they had her at Aria riding elevators with guests in case there was an issue since the emergency phones in the elevator cars were down. Seems like it's all hands on deck at the resorts themselves.

As soon as they went up, it went down again (the website) now currently back up again. Apparently ALPHV officially took responsibility now and posted a message regarding it on their website (on the dark web) and said they still have access and if MGM continues not complying they will be taking more systems down again.

Unknown at this time, Caesars did report that the hacking group did gain access to player account info, but said that they "made arrangements" for it not to be disclosed but they "can not guarantee" it won't be disclosed. Aka Caesars paid off the hackers (reported $15 million) and are just crossing their fingers that the hackers don't disclose info. They are now offering free credit monitoring as well. We don't have enough info on MGM yet. My big questions are: 1.) Clearly MGM didn't pay, and are fighting back. We won't know more until we know more. 2.) Caesars paid the hackers, which is why we didn't see this last week at Caesars. But what does that mean, do the hackers still have access to Caesars systems? We don't know. Great movie concept if Hollywood is listening! Lol
