MGP 2024 Reaction: Gåte - Ulveham (Norway Eurovision)

Here in Norway we have one job to do and that is to send Gåte and "Ulveham" to Eurovision. We might win the lot with this epic song. And Gåte on stage are pure magic!

This gives me goosebumps! My absolute favourite this year. Have also loved Gåte for years, and they are great live, so hopefully it'll go well! How awesome would it be if we could bring this to Eurovision?

I have been a fan of them since 2004 and seen them live four times, the last time in Oslo in October last years and they were absolutely fantastic! They are my favourite non-metal band. I hope they will get further than the Swedish Folk Rock band Garmarna (one of their influences) did in 1997, which didn't win the Swedish pre-elections and thus didn't make it to the Eurovision Song Contest final. BTW, since you like Gåte, you also might like Bergtatt (I don't know, if you are already familiar with them). Their bandleader and only founding member left, John Stenersen, plays hurdy-gurdy and keyed fiddle and replaced Gåte's founding member Sveinung Sundli on Gåte's tour about two months ago. It looks like he will also perform with Gåte now. If they should make it to the final, it will be the first time ever one of my favourite artists will participate in it.

This is the only song I think could become a contender at Eurovision. Keiino we know exactly what would happen, a bunch of televote but hated by the juries. Same with the AI song. This is THE song if you wanna reach for the stars.

If this doesn't win I'll be so disappointed. I'm sure many of their fans aren't the types to follow MGP, but I hope Gåte will be good at marketing their participation so that all of Norway knows. Would be so cool to send something with this traditional vibe, and someone we know can deliver great live. Alessandra's jury performance ruined a bit for us last year, even if she kicked ass in the final.

So powerful song. So hunting and so much energy. The only thing I missed was a higher note in the final ending of the song. It is building up so nice in the end and a higher last note would be absolute perfect to close this masterpiece.

I hadn't heard this song before the semi. First there were 5 decent contributions. Then this came, and totally washed the stage with the others. There is no debate, just send it. I can't get enough of that drumming, the power guitars, and that last chorus.

Yeah the production of the instrumentals is great right? I really hope it's going well at the MGP! Extra piont for it's in Norsk and I hope that's may be the key change to get highter jury votes as Norway is doing good with televotes with the normal pop stuff but this is more art and outstanding. I guess it could also go well in east Europe as there it seems mixing folk with other genres is popular. It only needs a good staging now. But that's what Norway can do well.

Cha cha cha wasn't in English and came second. The Norwegian version of Honestly was much better. I think Norwegian is a beautiful language and fits this style very well.
