I have 2 Mi air purifiers, model 2 with the supposedly worse air filter in them. Even after the filters being 3 years old, they can bring down the pm 2.5 levels to as low as 4 in Delhi.

Mi aur purifier 2c is very similar and just 6,000rs and also has h13 hepa filter but not carbon filter but I can purchase the filter with carbon next time I buy a filter . I have already have brought 3 mi 2c . Very happy with all , they work.

You didn't compare the price of the two models: Philips 2887 is 17k whereas Mi3 is 10k. At 60% of the cost of Philips 2887, Mi3 is a better deal.

The problem with the PM not dropping is due to the fan curve in auto mode favoring lower noise and considering 60mcg 'fine' You can go around this by setting your own rules in the app if you can accept some more noise. I have experience with both Xiaomi and Philips models and while the latter are sleeker and have nicer physical controls they seem to clog up much faster and cost twice more to both purchase and maintain. P.S. only someone in India could complain it's not measuring beyond 600mcg

You need to include information on how often the filter needs replacing and the cost of replacement filters. The Phillips air purifier is more efficient but it is more expensive to begin with, the replacement filters are more expensive (and often unavailable) but they do claim that their filters last longer? (I haven't seen anyone test this?) The Mi Air Purifier also lets you know how much of the filters capacity has been used up - it may not be accurate but its good information to have.

Please try Mi Air Purifier 3 with manual mode to high speed settings.. it could probably even beat Philips 2887.. I have seen huge difference i.e. pm2.5 levels just to 001 when the speed is set to high and not the auto mode.

Yeah, this. You have to use the manual settings. It seems to be going down just as good as the Philips but then it plateaus. The auto mode has quite a high count of what it considers "acceptable" for air quality and it will slow down the fan when it gets to that. If you stick it on manual I suspect it would go down further. I don't have this one but I do have an earlier one, and this is just how it works, auto is actually OK much of the time but if the air is really bad, you need to put it on manual or it will ramp the fan down too low before the air is really clean. It's a known issue but it's totally solved by using the manual mode.

I love your content but bro gas kinetics/fluid dynamics(motion of gases) is not that simple. The way both purifiers are place between furniture & their respective locations of air inlet might have intertwined the outcome (I see Mi Air 3 at disadvantage coz of its 360 degree filter type in this particular setup) The outcome might differ if both are placed closer to center of room with no furniture/walls near the front 3 sides of them. Just saying. Good content.

I do not think you can just just do a comparison by time, sure it may be important but for me the noise level is a very important factor, after all, you just have a fan and a filter in a box, airflow and noise should be the important factor

Well, the handbook clearly says that the air purifier needs at least 20 cm of space to each side except for the back where 10 cm is enough. Clearly this was not adhered to in the testing environment. And as others have mentioned, for the price of the other purifier, you could get two Xiaomis and get a better filtration, or you could simply crank up the power level, and I'm confident that the Xiaomi would beat the other device.

Use in manual mode - high speed setting , it brings done the pollution to less than 30 and I use it in a bigger room than tested. The auto mode, gets the fan speed low enough so, it is inaudible and that's a tradeoff.

The reason the Philips is showing only 250+ while your other device is showing 600+ is probably because the Philips is showing the Pm2.5 particulates in the air while the other device is showing the AQI. Real PM2.5 numbers are far more accurate because AQI is a calculation that is calculated in all sorts of ways, depending on location and standards... And you know what, if it's 500 or 600 or 700 it doesn't really matter, it's all extremely bath for your health and should be avoided. A simple particulate mask won't help that much either, but it's better than nothing.

ha, at least for my newley bought version 4 is also a fail... the automatic feature does not work here, as the number it begins to run in this mode is higher than my PM2.5, we don't have to much PM1PM2.5 or PM10 issues (PM1+PM2.5 ~ 10-20; PM10 below 50) here, I bought it with VOC in mind and... it's a total failure :( My sensor for VOC does not change even with full powered Purifier 4 at all. Damn superficial tests or bought test sides I've vistited before... 🤬 - I should have digged deeper not just read 3-4 tests...

The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

mi air purifier is 7k cheaper and filters cost 1.7k cheaper than phillips ! The particle sensor is better too ..and with smart features ! below 75 PM 2.5 LEVELS is perfect to breath ...so i dont see any point in buying phillips ! So i got MI and in DELHI IT GETS THE PM 2.5 FROM 500 TO 25-30 IN AN HOUR And maintains it! Pretty good deal ! and there is only 1 filter to buy ! Seems like A PAID review LOL

Its the grade, the blue is the least effective and for area with less pollution (is also cheap) while the green one (around 2000rs one) is true hepa filter and is for places with lots of pollution

Umm, you placed your egg so close to outlets of both that this test is bogus. It just maybe that more clean air flow was directed towards the egg in case of Philips. Also the centrifugal fan doesn’t slap the air out as hard and it’s more uniform, so the results with egg are more legit. This test will pet Dyson as the worst performer of all 🌝

Philips - Proudly zero customer service , contact names and numbers on website are all non existent. No filter availability on amazon or flipkart. Performance is in in question too. For Indian cities with highly polluted air and aqi's of more than 500 these and other brands are like toys. Remember these devices are no longer fighting dust and allergens but air pollution from vehicular exhaust smoke and crop burning which are particles much smaller than 0.3 microns
