Honestly, when she kept putting the wrong side to the good side, I thought, oh it’s going to be awful... At last someone as inexperienced as me... but in the end, omg, it looked really decent!! Even the square top really had a good base. Add a couple of darts at the bust and you wouldn’t know it’s not retail. It inspired me to maybe give sewing a try!

Cameragirl15 lolll it's like I've never laughed late at night to myself in the dark before... if you sew, you know right away that it isn't machine sewn. Without a serger and matching thread it's pretty obvious. But I also relate to her attempts when you think something looks ok but go back and it's just laughable compared to commercial clothing. Her mom knew right away and as usual, she's just a nice lady and plays along. Pretty good actress. This girl is going to grow up and look back and laugh her asssss off at this stuff. It'll be great.

oh, good point! but tbf, a lot of clothing from China and Korea don't have tags. a lot will have nonsensical "brands" just to look legit but a lot in markets and wholesale don't have tags and if retailers buy it, they can sew in their own label. In the future when you do hems I would recomend folding them over twice so the raw edge is trapped where you can't see so that way you can't see any frays!!

I totally agree. And I recommend using an iron when folding down the edges. It helps sooooooo much when sewing down a hem. I'll also recommend using a zigzig stitch or overlocking stitch on the extra bit of fabric on side seamsto "lock in" or stop the fraying on the sides.

There are SO many TIPS, or basic sewing knowledge as it's more commonly known, that would've benefitted Mia. Like sewing your items inside out (right sides together) so that all your stitching and seams are on the inside and the outside looks clean.

Another sewing tip for Mia! When putting two pieces of fabric together, remember, RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER! The sides where you want to show should be pressed against one another and the wrong sides of the fabric should be on the outside facing you! Hope that helps!
