I got into sewing for a while. And I tried to follow a lot of tutorials, but Micarah’s is the only one that realy turned out well. I think it is because the general instructions given by Micarah are easily adjustable while the instructions that are more mathematically permanent are harder to change for me at least. And micarah gives you the whole picture of where everything attaches throughout the video so that you have a better understanding of the changes and cuts that need made

@hmbee11102 жыл бұрын
Mia I highly recommend starting to learn how to sew by using store bought patterns. It makes it so much easier and guides you through each step. And you have the precise shape of each piece you need. That way you can build up your sewing skills one small step at a time. You asked about curtains and honestly a simple curtain is an excellent place to start. If you can sew a hem and straight lines you can sew simple curtains. You can even buy a pattern if you want to try different kinds of curtains or want to be walked through the steps. It's an excellent place to start.
@hmbee11102 жыл бұрын
I just finished the video. You did such a good job! You can always seam rip the zipper out and sew it back in properly later on. Also a suggestion that might be cute, make another length of the gathered tulle like you did on the bottom and sew it around the top of the bust /neckline. That would help hide the uneven parts and make it look more finished.
@angiegray498710 ай бұрын
Sometimes I think it's way more fun to watch sewing videos than to actually sew...but you need the inspiration to even pull out the sewing machine. It's official, I love this video way more than I would love sewing it. Also, inspired to try.

I’m a seamstress myself… you did an amazing job!! Your dress came out very cute! Maybe the light pink fabric had stretch on it? If it had, it made your life a bit harder… if the dress is made of a very stretch fabric, you don’t need a zipper. Next time when you pleat a skirt, use the “fork pleat hack”. So it will look better. You should make another one in summer for you ✨😊

@rachelcookie3212 жыл бұрын
I’m 16 and I’ve been sewing since I was like 6 and I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to sewing too lol. I take forever making anything because I like quadruple check everything because I’m so scared of mucking it up. I altered a skirt that was too big for me recently and it was a really simple alteration but it took me 6 hours! I didn’t make any mistakes or struggle with it or anything, I just took so long to do it because I was being such a perfectionist and taking ages to make sure everything was exactly right when it didn’t even matter if it was a bit off. That is a big part of why I don’t see often, also, fabric is very expensive. But I even don’t alter my clothes often and I have a big pile of clothes that need altering but I know it’s gonna take me forever because of my perfectionism so I keep putting it off.

Mia you did great! Couple things that can help for later: Not all fabric can be ironed directly on so keep a spare piece of cotton or linen between the iron and the fabric, in this case I would’ve been more careful about the tulle. For pleats the easiest way to do it is measure the fabric of the skirt and divide it by the waist measurement. If you get an odd number do one large pleat in front and one in back, that should fix most of it. Topstitching is a surge setting on your sewing machine that has a vvvvv pattern to it.

As someone who just learned how to use a sewing machine in 2019 and has been trying my best to make my own clothes since, I congratulate you and welcome you to the dressmakers club ✨🤩💃 your dress is beautiful btw, great job! I also wanted to tell you, it does take forever to make almost anything. I made a cropped t-shirt the other day and it took about 8hrs total, for something super simple. I personally think it's worth it for that sense of satisfaction when you wear it for the first time lol, it's such a cool feeling!
