Honestly the absolute lack of irony or cynicism in the music makes it kind of great. It's just really charming in its sincerity.

My name is Lloyd Sharpe and i'm the guy who sang played and co wrote Escape from Miami, Tough Guys , and the song in the final credits Tae Kwando Family. The movie was supposed to be called Escape From Miami but they changed it to Miami Connection after we had recorded the songs. They called us The Lloyds Richards band but there was no band that was just the first names of me and the keyboard player. The songs were all written on one day by me the keyboard player and Bill Young who was the club owner that had the fight scene with the old band leader in the movie. We recorded 4 songs in one day in the studio, one did'nt make the movie but it's on the soundtrack. I had nothing to do with Dragon Sounds music i never even met them. Anyway that's the story of the Soundtrack. After i saw the movie i told them they should turn it into a comedy but believe me they were dead serious they thought it was going to win an Oscar.

Orlando has always been run by ninjas and rock bands. Sometimes though, we get packs of Theme Park Mascots. Those folks are BRUTAL. Also I was trained by YK Kim as a kid at his Tae Kwan Do School. I was a such a damn fanboy I went and saw this in the theaters.

At about midnight, central time, the Friends for Eternity song popped randomly into my head, and I couldn't for the life of me remember where it came from. Naturally, I came to KZbin, typed in the handful of lyrics I could remember, and up popped a video for Far Cry Blood Dragon. That's it, I thought, hitting play and listening for about thirty seconds. Satisfied that I would not spend the next hour laying in bed, racking by brain for where this song came from, I started to close the KZbin app when I noticed the rest of the search results. Miami Connection? I always thought this song was a joke written for Blood Dragon...no way it could be an actual 80's song for an actual 80's movie. But, alas, Obscurus Lupa proved me wrong. Thank you, Lupa.

Wrong Maurice Smith... They have two very different IMDB pages & no mention of 'Miami Connection' in Maurice Smith's(the MMA Fighter)Wiki page. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Maurice Smith has been in Martial Arts Films though, but his first film was Blood Fist(1990). Miami Connection was made in 1987. I can understand the confusion though... They're both Black,Around the Same Age,Have the Same Name,Both been in Martial Arts Films & are Associated with Martial Arts!!
