I have recently got a chance to play the game, and ordered it that same night. It's fantastic, one of the most fun games I've played in a while.

I think this review was a little off. It felt more like a dissection of bits as opposed to how much fun it was. It's like reviewing a restaurant by describing the ingredients and the uniform of the employees than reviewing whether or not the eating experience was any good. Not my favorite review.

PLEASE, does anyone know the intro song of Miami Dice? I've looked for hours.
@Steve-L8 жыл бұрын
Tom has been asked several times where his music is from. He has bought music from some website that sells music. I can't remember it's name, and I do not know if this particular theme came from there, but chances are high. If so, you probably can't find the song, but have to purchase it.

Dang. It's seriously one of my favorite songs at this point. Thanks for the help!

I will buy this but they seriously dropped the ball on the main board - its basically and mishmash of purple, white black and grey coloring thrown onto the board imo. What happened to drawing upon the rich AD&D universe and all of the richness that comes with it ??

Because it's set in the Underdark? :) But i agree, the board is not great.

You guys do a great review, and it did seem to be an okay game. I am really glad Sam once again mentioned price in the review because it does not seem worth the $74.99 price tag. Curious to know if price is ever considered in rating a boardgame?
@cthulwho81978 жыл бұрын
+slothrob There have been a number of occasions where particular mention has been made of the cost of a game. One notable example was Cthulhu Wars when Sam said it was really difficult to recommend a game that cost $300. Of course there are also times when this is overlooked, for example all of Sam's reviews of the many, many releases for Imperial Assault which by now probably cost about the same if not more to collect them all.

I respect that they had a lukewarm feeling to this game, but I wished they gave a more precise review of why they felt this way about it. If there was a review video I wished the DT would remake, this would be the one.

75 dollars MSRP?! That seems like a hefty price. Oof.
@12thLevelSithLord8 жыл бұрын
Especially for what looked like a (not particularly hefty) box of cards and some dinky little plastic shield thingies.
@RoyAnderson8 жыл бұрын
Well, the real price is actually $50 (which you can get it for most places online). MSRP is a marketing gimmick in most industries. The retailers--not the manufacturers--can set the price to be anything they want, after all. Basically, "discounted" prices draw more buyers. Period. Thus, it behooves a retailer to slap a "discount" or "sale" price to anything if they want it sold faster. Manufacturers understand this, so many of the more savvy ones intentionally set their MSRP high whilst keeping their bulk prices low, making it so that a retailer can set a "discounted/sale" price on Day 1 (and thus get more overall sales).
@PodMan268 жыл бұрын
Well, the actual price is the MSRP because if you go into a local game store that's what they'll be most likely selling it for. I've seen the overpriced products that are constantly on sale business model before, I'm aware of it, but I don't think that's the case here because LGS can't afford to do that, they have to sell at MSRP, but online stores have fewer costs so they can afford to have everything below MSRP. So yes, I know I could get the game for cheaper online, that's kool, I know how to try to find cheaper prices. If I want to support my local store though, I'll be buying it for MSRP.
@RoyAnderson8 жыл бұрын
"overpriced products that are constantly on sale business model before" = that is all products. Know that a manufacturer COULD set their MSRP to whatever the bulk price is, but then no retailer would sell it (it would be the opposite effect...buyers would think the retailer was "ripping them off"), so they set MSRP at an arbitrarily high price (typically 1/3 higher than bulk price) and adjust it based on retailer input. Also, it's not "constantly on sale"...it should be variable. Competent retailers know to shift the illusory sale/discounts around so that there's a perception of limited availability. RE: LGS prices. Not if you live in FL and your FLGS happens to be Cool Stuff. What you describe is just small business owners failing to understand basic market practice: that they set the price. Walking into my LGS is always a great enjoyment but also irksome for me, because they pretty much violate every conventional business model. I'm beginning to think the "death of the LGS" things you hear periodically are really just growth pains as gaming goes mainstream. There's actual competition now and a LGS can't be run any more by folks who don't understand business. p.s.--sorry for the novel!

@cthulwho81978 жыл бұрын
+Moe Joe it is a strange mix, the cards and board are all dark purples and black (as a Drow theme might suggest) but then the incredibly cheap looking shields are bright neon. I was interested in this game after the previews but the look of it puts me off (as does the text heavy cards, I can see a lo of time wasted reading out every card in the purchase line for every player).

Deck builders bore me. I also have a hard time getting family to play them. They do enjoy Lords of Waterdeep, it is very approachable and fun. I am liking this combination deck building/area control, seems fun! And the game seems well designed and tested (these are clearly solid designers). I'm just worried that it is not as approachable as LoW. However, I'm eager to try it!

yeah the board design is really subpar, even the card design is not that good. The Art is D&D Wotc stuff so it has to be good. Have this on my wishlist, I love deckbuilding but the graphic design and the price puts it on the back of my wishlist

This game has little to nothing to do with D&D. Area control with deck building. I liked the burying of cards that give you more points than their worth in your hand at the end of the game. If you are looking at this game for a D&D theme/nostalgia....pass it up. I would play it again, but never buy it for myself, unless there was a HUGE discount.

The art looks great, but I feel the production quality is really lacking. Cards looked "cheap" and the board looks so drab and boring. Maybe it's just me, but I usually look past this but this game does retail for $75... Going to have to pass on this one.

$75.00 MSRP is outrageous for what you get in this box. The art design on the back of the cards is horrible an cheap looking. The card quality is poor. The board is snooze fest. In this the golden age of board gaming they need to step up there game.
