I wonder why there is no other builder except for the Dashews that follows that concept of buying the boat, fill it up once and then never refuel in you whole life* and go at somehow fast speed - fast for a displacement boat. I think their 64 foot version can get away with about 1l/nm at 8 knots and about 2l/nm at 11 knots. But those are rough estimates. I read those number years ago. Of course those boats are expensive but I still wonder why no other manufacturer goes that "thin and heavy" route. (* well, not really but it comes close with 10.000nm range) I think they are an interesting alternative to the two mainstreams "light, fast, no range" and "fat, slow, medium range".

Cool Video, I enjoyed it. But you would think that a Captain that can navigate from Florida to NY would know that Liberty Landing Marina is in New Jersey. Hope you enjoyed your stay in New Jersey.

what a guzzler! Ill stick to my project to covert the 34 mtr to a 43 mtr pure electric yacht. Unlimited range and almost no cost, no batteries, no solar and silent! GREEN!

Rofl, I am throwing the bullshit flag on your comment. Let's see the video of your fantasy project. Running electric with no batteries or solar. You are full of crap. You cannot sail everywhere on a liveaboard. There are several companies that have circumnavigated using all electric. Silent Yacht come to mind. It took a rediculas amount of solar and battery LiFe4 battery storage to make it feasible.

So i figure it costs about $2100 to travel 190 miles in fuel charges at $3/ gallon. That number sounds crazy to me

Are you using a remote control to maneuver the boat at certain points? I see something that almost looks like a gaming controller. I’ve heard of remotes for auto pilot but this looks like something that gives you joystick like control from any position on the boat.

When you're travelling at high speed you elevated the boat a couple of feet so you are fighting gravity, and it's the main reason it cost more fuel ? is my reasonning correct ?
@rabukan58424 жыл бұрын
If you don't care about fuel costs, then you were traveling at the speed you want for time. Judging from the wake, you were probably traveling at cruise speeds. But if you want to save on fuel, drop to your boat's hull speed, usually 8-10 knots. I own a 50' motor yacht that I am restoring, and I rarely travel at cruising speed (for my boat, 25 knots) for distance trips. I drop to hull speed (displacement speed) of 10 knots if I really want to save on fuel costs. I would have used a fraction of that $15,000 fuel bill.

With my Carver 350 mariner I spend $4,200 on fuel each way But between docking and fees the entire trip cost me $11,000 . Going 18-20mph

I once saw someone install an electric motor as backup for using the sails, how doable do you think it is to do something like that as backup for the engines on a motor yacht?
@samantha10546 жыл бұрын
sorry I am 2yrs late. Unless u need supplies, can u not just drop anchor out side a Marina and save the docking fee. Boating to the Caribbean (Bahamas) is it still the 100 to 300$ docking fee?

How do you know where to go when you arrive at different docks etc ? You are going under bridges and to get to a fueling dock...does the vessel have a special GPS or something?

Why would you have to fuel up so much ? Unless you have a smaller boat ! Most larger yachts 80' and up can to hundreds of miles before needing fuel

Rodney Brown Greetings Rodney. This boat is designed to go fast and has a limited range. You would be surprised to find that most boats are not designed to really go that far between fuel stops.

nice boat but that thing has no range or youre to heavy on the throttle. lot of boats that size would make the trip non stop or with only one fuel stop
@Tayloredexotics8 жыл бұрын
James Griffin You are correct, but these Italian express boats are designed to go fast and have terrible range. This boat in particular is only just over 200 miles to a tank!
@semajniffirg2308 жыл бұрын
YachtTruth You can't increase your range by running at displacement speeds?
@Tayloredexotics8 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, however these are performance engines and are designed to run at higher rpm. Also, consider the engine running hours vs diesel savings.
@dvukovic7 жыл бұрын
If you go 30 knots they do get a terrible range and consumption of 340l/h, but when you are ferrying the boat you should have done it at 14 knots with consumption of just 55l/h, and the range would be 680nm thus requiring only one refueling. But I guess when somebody else is footing the bill for the fuel, you tend not to care much... But that is a really poor stewardship of the boat, and as a captain you should know better.
@Tayloredexotics7 жыл бұрын
dvukovic Before trying to insult someone I would recommend you do a little more research. If you ran that boat at 14 knots not only would your range be less, you would blow the primary turbo. Best fuel economy on the D spec c18 is 1800rpm or idle. Manufacturer states not to idle more than 30 minutes due to carbonization.

all that fueling, way to heavy on the throttle. 9-10 knots would have been a nice cruising speed
@eloyex5 жыл бұрын
Your comment is very good. But this is a piece of crap boat that need speed to perform as it should be. (Mine need 17knots the be on the numbers and allow autopilot to work properly with top 32). This is a planning hull. No idea how much they hit the throttle to be in its minimums . THis is not a trawler. They dont want to navigate at night much either, which is understandable.
@ddruckmu7 жыл бұрын
Just saw this video, sorry, but terrible camera positions, not exiting to see the side of the boat taking more then half the picture 5 minutes at the time, learn a bit of videography. Subject gets lost in crappy camera work, oh and maybe show the whole boat just once to actually see the subject.
