This series is a petrol head`s dream, made in the days when petrol was not a problem. For it`s day showed the best of European and American manufacture's had to offer. The music from the series is the best I have come across..

Ferrari didn’t like the fact that season 1 & 2 used a replica, V8 corvette Daytona and the show was hugely successful so they gave them the white Testarossa! My favourite Ferrari of all time! Well that and Magnum’s 308! I’ve been lucky enough to drive both and they didn’t disappoint although being 6ft 3 makes these Ferraris very difficult to drive comfortably
@kevinfleming99193 жыл бұрын
Actually they didn't just give them the Testarossa (actually it was two that were black but repainted white to show up in the night shots better), it was part of a settlement agreement reached after Ferrari filed a lawsuit against the show for Trademark Infringement on their brand name and intellectual property for using rebodied Corvettes with "unapproved" replica bodies. As a settlement on the lawsuit they gave them two cars to use for the last three seasons, the show had to place the car and show the Ferrari badge on screen with a guaranteed amount of air time each season (which is why they did a lot of "time filling" scenes of them about to get a bad guy and driving down the road with no dialog to music playing), Ferrari didn't have to pay anything for product endorsement for actual Ferrari's being used, and they agreed to let the show use a rebodied '72 Pantera (because it had the same wheelbase) with a fiberglass replica body for stunt shots.

gervers, ask Tom Selleck. He's 6'4" tall and size 14 shoes. He had a few issues driving Robin Master's Ferrari quite often in the Magnum PI show.

@@MOTAHOLIC : Thanks Nick, that was nice to see all of those MV cars. I had forgotten about some makes/models like the Aston Martin Lagonda at 2:04. I think I told you on Aquaholic that my friends & I were teenagers here in the U.S. back in the mid '80s & we use to watch Miami Vice every week. I shared this video with one of them a few minutes ago & he enjoyed seeing the cars again too.

An acquaintance of mine used to go to Malaga every few months to buy repossessed Drug Dealer cars ... he thrashed a Merc up the motorway to catch Amsterdam Ferry to UK ... at the last Toll Booth he got whacked with a €500 Speeding Fine. Average speed cameras had tracked him from the Belgian border.... Tut Tut

So, at 1:58 how did stretching a 600 SEL turn it into a 10000 SEL? Methinks the coach builders indulged in a tad too much of that Miami Vice nose candy and added the extra 0 for fits and giggles! Fun, and little known, fact: Pete Waterman got his Testarossa wedged between two bollards in London when he underestimated just how wide the Ferrari was.

Great work putting together all those amazing cars! 👍👏 Even though it's Miami Vice, after seeing the yellow Caddy pulling out I thought of Don Johnsons yellow "Pseudo Cuda" on Nash Bridges. (Pseudo because it wasn't really a 71 Hemi Cuda convertible, but actually a bunch of '70's with 340 V8's). Miami Vice was great to watch just for the scenery of the cars driving around!.....and the bikinis 👙 of course!😉😜

I know you are a big Miami Vice fan MOTAHOLIC aka Aquaholic, but are aware that living in Brixham Torbay not far from where you live in Torquay is a Honorary Colonel of the Miami Police dept, who has the freedom of Miami and even a day named after him in Miami. This was all achieved during the Miami Vice and Scarface era. This man has even had numerous meals with Don Johnson when he lived for 10 years in the famous Fontainebleau hotel in Miami. Just thought you might find that interesting, check out his website officialbillysutton.com. for more info!
