Nice shots! I really liked the 20 sec shot of the waterfall the best. I think the D800 holds up great for landscape.

Thanks for sharing your techniques and your beautiful photographs Phil. My interest for landscape photography is growing and I learn a lot from you. I even learned a new word today “foggyfied”! Wildlife and landscape are my favorite disciplines. Thanks for another great video. / Per Christensen, Denmark

My D800 is sitting in my camera bag with my D850 now. Both are absolutely fantastic cameras. And great shots.

I used to have both as well and while the D850 delivered more perfect, clear and detailed images, D800 colours were kind and nicely blended, less digital. Both are wonderful.

@MMB.__ The D800 definitely produces some nice raws. My biggest complaint about the D850 is it being a bit more prone to false colours when I'm shooting northern lights, more time in post to correct. Neither suffers from the clinical look of some other bodies while still not wanting for resolution.

wow, my actual camera (d800) and my dream camera, the d850. How was the upgrade? did you feel it?
@michaelmorris1865Ай бұрын
@lucamorena8321 Honestly, these days, I use both pretty equally. The D850 is great paired with quality glass, but I don't see my D800 going anywhere until it dies.

Great video Phil, keep those D800 videos coming I love the colors. That is a great camera. But you were talking about my baby the D850 probably my favorite camera of all time. I have shot them all but there is just something about those nikon colors. The black& white of the dam was pretty cool, but my favorite was the tree in the fog. Love it, great video Phil.Thanks

Got my D800 today. I been shooting with D610 and D700, on youtube it's hard to see the difference, but man the D800 picks up a lot more detail you can see once you put them on your computer. I bought one so i can crop in on birds without losing a lot of detail

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Phil. I loved my D800. I bet your 24-70 F2.8 works better than mine. The focus motor has died in mine. Manual only lens at the moment 🤷♂️

Thanks, Adrian! Sorry to hear about your focus motor. I probably would have been fine on this shoot with manual only. 🤣

I love that you are using a super glued camera! LOL -I got another D800 on ebay afer I sold my D800 to get a D750 and was sad to see that I thought I was upgrading but realized I was NOT.... The D750 is great for many things but the image just does not look as awesome as the D800 in my opinion. Not sure why! I am looking forward to hearing about your D850 if you get one! I was considering getting one too.

Phil, just curious. When you don’t use your cameras for a long time, do you take out the battery for storage? Does the internal clock lose power ? I have a 850 that I don’t use much, but can’t seem to let it go. Thanks for all your videos !!
@PhilThach9 ай бұрын
Thank you! I think I did have to reset the time and date at one point with this old camera. But I do just leave the battery in it and occasionally I’ll swap it out with another one of my Nikon cameras that uses the same battery.

I'm glad to see you using the D800. I still use mine all the time and love it for pet and people portraits. I upgraded from the D300s (still have it) to the D800 eleven years ago. Last year, I bought a D500 and the 200-500 for wildlife photography. Also, I bought the Z50 three years ago for a travel camera for its light weight and to try out a mirrorless camera. I like them all, and so I struggle with the idea of going all mirrorless when I have this really nice collection of cameras and lenses that I enjoy. Maybe one day I'll get a full frame mirrorless for the eye detect feature on the larger sensor. Thanks for the videos...always inspiring.

what is the benefit of an L bracket?
@PhilThach4 ай бұрын
An L bracket gives you a tripod mounting plate on both the bottom AND the side of the camera which make vertical compositions much easier.
