hey MIB, I was trying to contact you but I couldn't find our Facebook conversation. A little info. I first saw your video on this set a few weeks ago, My wife was watching also. She works at Disneyland and brought me home a set. She said there were about 20 on the shelf and NO discounts were taken, not even her employee discount. I was going to pick you up a set but she said the next day, they were all gone and the shop worker said people have been coming in by the minute looking for it. Also, people using, or actually ARE shopping for people at Disneyland...If caught, you will be banned from EVERYTHING and kicked out, all Disney-related, Magic Keys, Disney app, Disney Florida, etc. will be canceled, and if you send in a wife or relative, they will also be banned. She works for security and they have a billion cameras and a million ways to find "Disney shoppers"

Great video and discussion Johnny. My order is still active as of today, I didn't use any discount or shipping codes, I just went with the full price and used PayPal for payment, I only ordered one 4-pack set. It was 11:32 AM EST (8:32AM PT) when the order placed. I was connected to the site at 11:00, but the connection was very slow and locked a few times, some members from the Mego Ambassadors group posted at that time this problem and to keep attempting to place the order. The order finally placed.

My first order of one set was completed 2 mins into the sale. They canceled that one. Then 6 hours later yesterday, they were up again (on and off) and I placed another order. That second order is still open. If they canceled orders because they were oversold, why were they selling them again later in the day? Overall, I think it was a cluster. Marvel Mego dangled like a carrot for weeks and then when they finally went up for sale, they messed it up. Exclusive Mego seems to be cursed.

It’s difficult to really get a real understanding of how Disney is dealing with this situation, I don’t understand why they simply didn’t shutdown the sales, the very second that they sold the last set. Maybe they had a computer glitch in the system, that seems like a decent reason to explain some of this stuff

My biggest issue? Mego said to relax that there was plenty available for all. There's no way this was true if they sold out in 2 minutes. I'm not mad at Disney. They haven't been the ones hyping this up and feeding us info. I'm looking for, at least, an apology from Mego and an explanation as to what happened. They said there was plenty to go around. I'm sure there's plenty, but they're keeping them for the shops in Downtown Disney and Disney Springs. Mego had no way to know that only some small quantities would be made available through the website. Like everyone else, they expected that stock to be available through there.

My guess is it’s all about money, as always. Money for Disney, not because they’ll make a killing on Mego dolls, but because it gives them a little publicity and exposure and adds a little drop in the pond of park attendance, as if they even really need it. A Mego doll is probably considered just a frivolous item of nostalgia. Money for Mego cause they maybe hope to make a profit on their end, maybe focused more towards sales to customers through Disney parks and their website cause it’s a way bigger customer base (than us lowly collectors)and (their hopeful) future endeavors with Disney in general. The last thing on either of their lists, in my unimportant opinion, is us collectors. I hardly think we make any profit for them. Mego collectors are a dying breed, maybe even more so after fiascos like this. Big companies only care about their bottom line and collectors are not it.

Disney Parks exclusives are often a pain to get on the website. I've had the same issue before with Star Wars and the Tron figures, for example. They sold out within minutes. So the best guess is that Disney prefers having their Parks exclusives in the parks, and only put a small quantity of product for sale on the website. So I wasn't entirely surprised that happened to be honest. My order hasn't been cancelled as of yet.

My theory on the instant sellout is that Disney allocated most of the stock to their physical stores and only a small percentage for online sales. If Disney didn't intend for online customers to get left out and they are not interested in just creating FOMO then they will order Mego to produce another batch of Marvel Mego wave 1. This is now in Disney:s court.

So, I don't care who is to blame. All I know is that if I cannot get these, I am out on Mego. I have been collecting them since Target, got the TOPPS releases, but could not get the Big Lots ones. I can live without the Big Lots ones, but if I can't get Marvel Heroes, what's the point of collecting anymore as a superhero Mego collector wanting Marvel and DC together? I hate when toy lines have so many exclusives that you cannot get without going to eBay or sitting at your computer at a specific time within a 5-minute window, hoping to snag them. It is not worth collecting them anymore. Hopefully, they will have more of these sets available later.

I went to the Disney store website and they aren't even listed. This sounds to me more of a Disney issue than a Mego issue. Wanting to make them only available through their website or store is a problem considering they closed alot of their stores. The one in the mall of America closed and it's basically because their stuff is to expensive. I realize Mego hyped the products up but they seemed just as excited to get the license as we were. This feels like Topps all over again but more on Disney for limiting the availability unless we can get them through other sources like Frank Wojo.

The took the Mego Spider-Man 4 Pack down off of their website on the same day they were for pre order and I was very lucky I was able to order again because my pre order was cancelled like a lot of others and it sold out for the fourth time after I was able to order again and they really underestimated thinking the Mego set would not sell but I knew just like other people that it would sell out that’s exactly what happened no surprise.

Don't blame Marty! Mego had to sell their souls to Disney to accommodate us. I honestly believe that Disney under estimated Mego Marvel fans and Disney was concerned about any left over inventory stock. Marty expected the onslaught and he told us to "go out and get it"! This tells me that he told Disney that they'll need more Wave 1 and now that his fiasco happened, Marty was right and I believe another Wave 1 will happen just before Wave 2 or afterwards. Also folks, I got my 2 and didn't use the 25% off code and only used free shipping. I also think that the 25% saving code use was also a concern for Disney, as they wanted to assess Mego Marvel sales and future allotments based on actuals!

I agree with you, I don’t blame Marty, I actually give Marty credit for at least giving collectors a chance to reconnect with their childhood memories, by producing these Marvel Mego figures again !!! I personally believe this issue is Disney’s fault because they knew how many sets they had in their warehouse and they set the time and date that these sets would be available for sale on their website. Marty and Mego Corp, didn’t control that situation, so I hold Disney accountable for this chaos. Yes that’s what I’ve been hearing. I called them and I was very adamant about speaking to Corporate so they actually had someone call me. She was very sweet and gave me a very generous promo code of $90 in the event it came back in stock. … probably unlikely. Yeah I’m still bummed about it. Thank you for posting this video and for providing something of a forum for those of us who placed orders at 8am PT, only to have them cancelled a few hours later. Personally, I blame Disney for this, not Mego. I only blame Mego for allowing Disney to call the shots on this release, thereby making sure that many people would not be able to get them. Mego has done two waves of these rereleases so far. They know what the demand is. Disney had no idea, but it seems to me were allowed to make the key decisions on availability anyway. I am very happy for those who managed to get these (especially you, MIB). Hopefully, they will be releasing more of these for sale in the very near future. Unfortunately, the fact that the product no longer even shows up when you search for it on their website makes me doubtful. But please keep us posted if you hear anything!

MEGO might make these four figures available individually, but I don’t think they will get full MSRP after a while if they make too many. Spider-Man and Green Goblin might sell out at $20-$25 but eventually Electro and Lizard will possibly languish on shelves and be marked down to five dollars. If people want just Spider-Man and green goblin, the $90 4-pack will ensure full MSRP for lizard and electro

I have to say this but collecting modern toys just isn't fun anymore. What difference does it make if there is a cool product but it can't be found anywhere? Also why do these prices have to be on par with their vintage counterparts? At least with the vintage toys I know that they will hold value. I don't think that the majority of the these modern toys will hold any future value once hype dies down. Here is a example the mego 50th shazam was selling for as high as 150 at times on ebay. A week ago I lucked out and won a shazam for 22 dollars. Everything I see is just inflated artificial hype concerning modern items. I know that will apply for these marvels as well the only thing is why should we have to wait a year or two for prices to drop to a normal level?

Modern toys that are so exclusive that you can’t find them is just crazy to me !! Modern toys will always come back down to earth with their value , your Shazam example is a great case in point ! There was no rhyme or reason to the cancelations. When I tried at 11 am, I was able to add to my bag, then went to checkout and said it was sold out! Used the 25% code. Tried over and over. Sold out. 25 minutes later, I tried again after I logged out then back in, I was able to buy one, WITH the 25% off code. So far, it has not been canceled.

Great video Brother. Yeah I didnt order I woke up late and by the time I got on they were gone. I am planning on being at Walt Disney World in early March and will be looking for them in person. Disney does prefer to have their parks exclusives onsite, but who knows what happened. I think they didnt think the demand would be this great. They can alway request Mego to make more. Let hope

My order was cancelled and I was very lucky I was able to order for a second time and after I did it was sold out for the fourth time and later on they took down off of their website unless they are going to put it back on again I think the Disney Store website underestimated how well this would sell and I knew like a lot of people did that it would sell out very quickly and that’s exactly what happened.

very thoughtful MIB ,i will get these figures ,no question although it may take awhile ,i bought my first spidey in 1977 & lizard /goblin as well .i got spiderman at K-mart ,lizard & green goblin at a store called disco-mart ,still have them + copies ,and getting them again it the future now is just kinda cool ,just like the classic DC figures . awesome childhood flash back .just like the costumes on your ben cooper kids sitting there ,( i bought all those figs too ) for me its just toy history ,when you get yours ,they will look good on your shelf in your cool museum .id rather find these & other megos in the store ,however in the future now ,you have no choice but to get them where they land ,thanx for your video MIB -your the best !!

OK, agree with the theory that Disney didn’t put out enough figures to be sold. Could it be disdain, on Disney’s part, because the market for these figures were old dudes in their 50s and 60s? That they believe these Mego figures wouldn’t stir much interest in the general public? Baffling stuff from the house of the mouse.

It's what they do. Remember how many of their classic movies were only available once in a while? They used to release their movies for a short time on DVD or Blu-Ray or whatever, then put them back in "the vault" for another 10 years.

As of today, 12/23, I still have the 2 sets. I did both the 25% off and the free shipping. The only difference I can think of, and course I can be wrong, but I used my daughters Disney account. She is a Disney+/Hulu subscriber as well as a Disney Magic pass holder to WDW. Plus I paid cash thru pay pal Besides that, I could not tell you. Of course, I could type this tonite and get a cancellation notice tomorrow. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

@ so, just wondering….for those WHO DID NOT have their orders cancelled, how many are Disney recent past members to things like the magic band, Disney+/Hulu package subscribers, recent hotel guest, or park visitors?? I mean Disney keeps that stuff and sure wouldn’t want to alienate that base. Long shot, but just curious if there is a common thread between us

I don’t really blame it on anyone. It’s hard to know how well something like this will sell. We also don’t know if Disney chose the order quantity with or without Mego’s input. What we do know at this point is there is a large audience for these WGSH 50th Anniversary reproductions of figures originally released in the line’s heyday that exists outside of the audience for Mego and Mego-style products in general. That’s the reason I’m here. Even the WGSH 50th figures in Waves 18 and 19 don’t appeal to me the way the first two waves, and now this four pack, of 50th Anniversary WHSH figures do.

How can anyone really know what will be a hit, until it becomes one, Disney isn’t familiar with Mego so they were probably being really careful and only took what they felt like they could sell without a loss, now maybe Disney will order more next time, after seeing the outpouring of positive sales and unfortunate losses. It's a Disney Parks exclusive. Mego doesn't have a say on where they can be sold. they're just a contractor here.

My guess is that Disney did not have enough Mego Marvel figure sets to accommodate the supply and demand. Once again, I stand behind Mego. Mego has to play ball with Disney and with Disney’s rules. I am confident that these issues will be fixed in the near future, nevertheless, Disney and Mego should address this dilemma now.

I didn't know this was a thing as I ended my Fake-Book times with having fact checkers deleting posts of my collection or my cat. With them calling it spam especially after more than 2 weeks after the last time I posted anything prior to that time. Unfortunately it does put me out of the loop with regards to trading or to see the collections of far greater and better collections. Though as long as I can see yours that's enough. I do love the 2 different Mego and Mattel Green Lanterns and Sinestro ones. I love both Jon Stewart's for different reasons. Stewart being the first hero of colour who didn't have their name hyphened before the character which was like Iron Man or something like that. In high school I wasn't a Marvel fan until Dave Cockrum and Chris Claremont (Lem Wein prior) until 1997ish when X-Man and the X-overwhelming Mutant blah.

In a recent video, Dr. Mego said Orlando had plenty of inventory. Unfortunately, I bought one on ebay because I had to have them and couldn't get them through Disney, I knew something like this would happen once they were exclusive to the parks.

You’re right, the Orlando store definitely had a large number of sets available, I just don’t know if they still do, I’m getting reports that the park stores are low or have sold out, so you made a good choice by going to ebay

I did have some issues with the site, it froze on me a couple of times while trying to transact, maybe they couldn't handle the traffic. This whole situation reminds me of the Topps fiasco, except worse. You had a week to Pre-order, and they were made to order, but then why were there a bunch dumped into the general population a few months later? Very strange. Have patience, hopefully, this was a success for Disney (and Mego), and the figures will be back.

Yes that’s what I’ve been hearing. I called them and I was very adamant about speaking to Corporate so they actually had someone call me. She was very sweet and gave me a very generous promo code of $90 in the event it came back in stock. … probably unlikely. Yeah I’m still bummed about it. I’m hoping it’ll be at their stores or Disney parks since coincidentally I’ll be there end of next month.
