@@littlerock5256You are incorrect, and apparently have little knowledge of the history or correct theological understanding of the development of the Papal office, which is to “confirm the brethren in the faith.” When St. Peter was acting contrary to the orthodox teaching of the early Church, St. Paul said, “ We resisted him ( Peter) to his face!” The Pope is not a divine oracle or the voice of God on earth! He is infallible only in very specific and clearly defined circumstances. Not everything that comes out of his mouth is dogma or doctrine.. The worship of the pope is not Catholic teaching. Popes have been wrong in the past in their personal theological views. Popes have been immoral and sinful. Just look at the Borgia popes who were a disaster for the Church. Pope Francis, has been one of the worst popes in 2000 years, and when he departs from the orthodox teaching of the Catholic faith, he needs to be resisted!
@littlerock52564 ай бұрын
@@giovanniserafino1731 St. Peter never did this. St. Paul pointed out that St. Peter was being rude. It did not involve a matter of Church teaching. A pope can be wrong on, as you say, his but the promises of Our Lord to St. Peter and perennial Catholic teaching on the papacy makes it impossible for a pope to promulgate error to the Church. "In the Church there is no law or jurisdiction which can impose on a Christian the diminution of his faith. All the faithful can and should resist what interferes with their faith… If they are faced with an order putting their faith in danger of corruption, there is an overriding duty to disobey… It is because we judge that our faith is endangered by the post-conciliar reforms and tendencies, that we have the duty to disobey and keep Tradition. Let us add this, that the greatest service we can render to the Church and to the successor of Peter is to reject the reformed and liberal church… I am not of that religion, I do not accept that new religion. It is a liberal, modernist religion. Christians are divided… priests no longer know what to do; either they obey blindly what their superiors impose on them, and lose to some degree the faith, or they resist, but with the feeling of separating themselves from the Pope. Two religions confront each other; we are in a dramatic situation, it is impossible to avoid a choice." (Archbishop Lefebvre, 1986, “Open Letter to Confused Catholics”)

@@revelation12_1Christians were not united that long. Oriental and Eastern Orthodox.
@wilhufftarkin85434 ай бұрын
@@shepherddog1199 That's a different story. Theologically, Catholics and Orthodox Christians are basically 95% the same. The great schism is always dated to 1054, but this schism was basically a hierarchical dispute among bishops that didn't affect the vast majority of Christians at all. Even centuries later, during the late middle ages, Catholic and Orthodox Christians considered each other simply as Christians and the average person didn't even know about this dispute. It was also still regarded as the same Church. Now, Protestantism on the other hand was a completely different phenomenon, because it was always started by essentially heretics who changed major theological concepts which had been essential Church teachings for centuries, both in the Catholic and the Orthodox Church. Keep in mind that the early Protestants weren't even that different from the Catholic/Orthodox Church as many of the various modern sects and "non-denominational" sects are. Evangelicals and Baptists for example would have been simply total heretics for any pre-modern Christian, including even Martin Luther himself.
