Michael G Yeah,zepknot makes a great point. Most people think Hugh is amazing as Wolverine. When the movies don't do well, the reviews never criticize him. He is still praised while the writing, directing, and plot is criticized. I also wouldn't say his solo movies do poorly. At the Worldwide Box Office, both Wolverine Origins and The Wolverine did better than First Class despite many X-Men fans being obsessed with First Class. Bottom line is, take Wolverine/Jackman out of an X-Men movie and people don't go to see it, no matter how good it is.

Russell Crowe, who was the original choice until he rejected it, would have absolutely destroyed Jackman. He was the best true-to-the-comic version available.
