Part 1: • Michael Franzese on Ho...
--------
In this clip, former mobster turned actor, Michael Franzese addresses allegations made by Sammy The Bull, that he was only "made" because of his father's stature in the Italian mob. To that, Franzese confirmed the notion before adding more context and explaining that nepotism is just as common within the mob as it is in Hollywood. From there, the 71-year-old talks about the two-year waiting period that he had to endure after he was proposed and the tests that he had to complete in order to earn respect from the mob. Moving along, Franzese talks about the secretive nature of murders by the mob, the way they are ordered, the way in which they must be carried out, and the consequences that one must face if he dares to refuse the order.

Michael was a captain in one of the five families during the most violent and chaotic time in mob history. Obviously he's done work. But the moment he says "Ok yes.. there was this one guy I had to kill back in the 70s.. he owed Persico some money and blah blah blah.." All the FBI has to do is sift through their unsolved case file.. and oh look.. Johnny "Big Nose" Lasagna went missing in 1977 and hmm, informants say he owed Persico money.. and next thing you know Michael is back in prison for life. So you just have to read between the lines.

I think a lot of people overlook the mind-state of someone who has been given an order. They WANT to be a part of that life. They WANT to show the bosses that they are capable. So they WANT to perform, sometimes regardless of the task given. I can only assume it’s similar to an army recruit. He gets deployed and believes that the enemy is a detriment to their country and their people.
@EM-ve9bh
@EM-ve9bh 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah this is what I think is easy to overlook. A lot of times I see people ask how these guys can be such stone cold killers. The more of these mob interviews I see, the more it sounds like a lot of them look at it like the military. They follow orders. They’re protecting that fraternity and that life. Obviously there are guys like demeo who really loved killing. In an interview with jimmy the weasel he talks about how all the guys he killed were scumbags and killers themselves. Not excusing murder, but I can see their mindset when they’re ordered to do a hit.

These questions about "doing work" are always frustrating to me. There can be several different kinds of scenarios where a hit can be ordered. This thing about "what if he's just an associate, can he refuse the order?" is just missing the point. These guys generally get into the life to become made guys. They know that it almost always includes "doing work". These aren't the type of guys who get sensitive about that kind of order.

Not entirely...Michael didn’t get in for himself he got in to help his father ought of prison and take care of his fathers business while he was inside. Quiet a few guys are highly pressured to get in the life by uncles and fathers. They pick you more then you decide to pick them. They know you from the neighborhood. There’s a lot of young guys who didn’t wanna get there hands dirty and there known. One guy even killed himself from all the pressure to join. Now street guys, wise guys, and even rich fellas have introduced themselves from outside the neighborhood as a hang around with intent to get made or atleast in the life for the benefits. They know who’s “capable”. Everyone sorta has a role. There’s drivers, collectors, schemers, bruisers, and hitters. You become valuable in the life when you’ve got something to offer.

Bro we get that, the thing is that many times they may be asked to kill someone close to them. We all know made men were in the life for good, they made an oath and it was against the rules to get out at that point, but that wasn't the case with associates and recruits. Asking if a recruit could refuse a hit and get away with it is a legit question.

Man Vlad ! you're droppin some great stuff today! A determination was made by the bosses at the end of the day case fuckin closed. He was proposed by his dad, his dad obviously had the highest respect from his bosses as well as their trust . If the bosses thought for a single second this proposed man was not going to do his/this/the job he's ordered or produce for the family or earned it ? I assure you , no matter how much the bosses loved , trusted and respected his dad they would not even considered it for a single second BECAUSE theyre obviously very aware the books have not been opened in 20 years. . . .think about it logically. You bet your ass he's earned it. The last thing the bosses want is rife within the ranks. That gets things all convoluted, these are not some dumb old men, they seen it all before, they know what happens and what was going to happen, they must have thought /weighed their decision carefully and decided the man was worth the risk . Obviously !

But there are other legal ways that you can make a living if you don't want to work an ordinary job and work for someone else( and it was the same situation back when he became a made man but now, there are definitely even more avenues and opportunities for people to be self-employed businessmen and women and entrepreneurs).

Micheal has already talked about this. He absolutely did not kill anyone for his bosses. He was a money man, they are not going to send a money maker out to do something that can stop the flow of money. They have other members that don’t necessarily bring in loads of money that can do the dirty work. It’s common sense.
@BillyBob-ec5ox
@BillyBob-ec5ox 2 жыл бұрын
No question about that. But it’s extremely likely that he was involved in at least a few hits during the period where you have to prove yourself. It’s an almost guarantee. Mike knows that everyone knows that, but of course he’s not gonna say it.
@agnsprinting

@@BillyBob-ec5ox I doubt it, one could argue that before members of the mob are officially made they have already somewhat proved themselves. What I mean is before you become a made member your an associate right ? People are still putting in work and paying tribute as an associate . I’m almost certain they knew of his money making abilities early on. But hey what the hell do I know I just make high quality t-shirts for a living.

@@agnsprinting I'm sorry but you don't know what you're talking about. To become a made man, you need to carry out a hit, regardless of how much money you bring in. So yes, Michael almost certainly did carry out a hit. Why else do you think he shy's away from talking about it so much?

It is possible to refuse a hit and still live. Just tell them that you'll do it and in the meantime tell your family to start packing so you can move away and never come back. FBI agent Joseph pistone said plenty of mob guys did that when he was working undercover in the mob.
