His vocal control was just immaculate!! I could listen to him during this time all day!

He really started changing around 72, 73. He was able to sing Ben live similarly for bout 3 years. By 74 his voice completely changed and it was stronger, tho he didn't hold notes as long and you could start hearing his breathing on the mic which itself sounded like an instrument how he used it.

And I find that to be soooo fascinating! It's rare for us as an audience to see and hear a vocalist go through puberty. Especially when concerning a male vocalist as the male vocal change tends to be a drastic change vs. a female vocal change. I just love hearing how he started to find ways around this difficult time and still sounds amazing. I love listing to all of his recordings during this time (Jackson 5- Looking through the Windows - Moving Violation.)

@@JelaniStokes Yea he us the best male singer that we heard through puberty. Tevin Campbell was really good also.

In my opinion, this is when Michael started to enter his vocal peak which ironically was during his male vocal change. He had such control over his voice that he could turn any song into a Michael Jackson classic!

Jermaine's a very underrated bass player too ! not many people commend Jermaine for his bass skills
@JelaniStokes

It's soo funny that you say that because it was actually Jermaine Jackson who inspired and prompted me to play bass with given the option in high school. He's song Bass Odyssey is a perfect example of the fire 🔥 on produces on bass!

I used to like Jermaine but he turned into such a jerk. Michael had all the true talent in the group.

Again, This is him adopting a new style based on the fact the he is no longer the "little" Michael Jackson. He has to find another way to express the song. AND BOY DOES HE SUCCEED!
@east00

@@JelaniStokes He picked up on things fast and perfected it. He took the, "hee hee" from Stevie and 1st used it on Blame it on the Boogie. Then took "Cha Mon" from a female black soul singer and used it during Bad era.

I felt like this was Michaels light emo stage. The hair and light eyeliner he used to wear gave that feeling off. I do think Michael was going through a phase here.
