Guys, Janet Jackson was super huge. Her only comparison was Michael. She even had the highest paying record contract at one point even higher then her brother Michael. She was i guess like the beyonce of that time.
@RodneyakaBlue8 ай бұрын
What I need you guys to do is do research and listen to more Janet Jackson. She is one of the biggest and most successful artist ever. She actually rivals her brother and Madonna. Janet was actually Madonna's biggest competition during their prime years. If you know the Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad albums by Michael I can't see how you don't know or have heard of Janet's "Control", "Rhythm Nation", and "janet." albums. Janet is in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for a reason and has sold over 160 million albums. She was the Highest Paid singer in History on two different occasions. She signed the biggest record contract in history in 1992 when she signed with Virgin Records for $40 million dollars, then in 1995 when she resigned with Virgin Records because her "janet" album did so well and sold over 20 million copies. She resigned with Virgin in 1995 for a whopping $80 Million Dollars which they labeled her "The Queen Of Pop." No artist at that time ever signed a deal that high. Look it up. She still to this date holds the record for the Most Top 5 Singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with Seven songs going Top 5 and Four of those songs hitting Number 1. She did that with the Rhythm Nation album spanning from 1989 to 1991. No one has beaten that record to this day. She has 7 Number 1 Billboard Top 200 Albums and 10 Number 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles which makes makes her one of the most successful in History. React to these videos by Janet: Rhythm Nation, Nasty, Miss You Much, That's The Way Love Goes, When I think of You, All For You, Again, Love Will Never Do, IF, Together Again, I Get Lonely, Black Cat, No Sleep, and Made For Now. I listed just a few of her biggest hits just so you have a variety and a span of years to see how long and successful her career has been over the decades. These dates range from 1986 to 2018. Just check out a few to get a feel of Queen Janet.

I wish Janet Jackson got more love and respect. She’s an incredible artist and icon in her own right. Imagine your brother being the biggest artist ever and STILL managing to carve your own lane, with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, over 160 million records sold, the biggest debut tour of all time and the list goes on. I think if you guys knew more about her, you’d understand why she’s accomplished these things.

She has had me in her fandom since Dream Street (1984) Nothing could ever take that away......Rhythm Nation 1814 solidified her as my top artist ever for this life and the next one.

I completely agree with you! Janet paved her own path and worked her butt off without any help from her brothers. She has her place in musical history and no one can take that from her. I feel blessed to have seen her live in concert for every tour she has done since 1990....AMAZING live performer!!

Glad you appreciated this, Nick and Alexia! You’re right, this has remained the most expensive video because it has become so much cheaper to do special effects. I think it will maintain that record. MJ is still a controversial figure, and there are a lot of people who would like to cancel his memory. But you can’t erase his accomplishments as an artist. Picasso is still a great painter, and Chinatown is still a great movie. My opinion. Janet came onboard this project to support her brother during tough times. She sang this live at the VMA Awards in 2009 after Michael died, with the video playing behind her. A very emotional moment. This song still matters.

What's interesting about this is that Janet was in her peak. Just signed an 80$ dollar deal with Virgin, came out of a three #1 album strike and a major world tour that lasted two years. Michael, on the other hand, was in the lowest. Just out of a trial and needed a boost. He asked Janet to work on a song together. They used Janet's production team (Jimmy JAm and Terry Lewis) and she chosed director Mark Romanek for the video. It was her helping her big brother in a difficult time.
@KB-xp6dq6 ай бұрын
He hadn't just come out of the trial (that was in 2005), but he was at a low point after the 1993 case was settled for $20 million - against his will by the insurance company - because a lot of people thought that made him look guilty.

It’s too bad he wasn’t able to do more collaborations with Janet. They were so good together. I remember when this came out. It was widely publicized when it was going to premiere. It was more like watching a new tv show or movie rather than a music video. Usually music videos don’t get a huge premiere like this. It was so impressive the quality of it for the mid 90s. It was like did he really go to the future and make this video?

I don't think younger people understand thriller...the opening movie is based on grade B horror movies of the 1950s.... the special effects are supposed to look a little cheesy because it's an homage to those types of movies where you can see the seams(the whiskers scene is a perfect example)..its 50s special effects in an 80s music video(short film) on purpose.The girl in it is wearing a poodle skirt and has a ponytail and Michael gives her a promise ring... you know ...50s s#@t. Also, Nobody dressed like that in the 80s.

Great reaction!! This video/song was such an anticipated 'event' much like MJ's Black Or White. Janet's voice here is a near spot-on match to Michael's when he was in Jackson 5 - so as a kid. Indeed you can tell the familial connections! While not the 'best' song in his catalogue, this was a good, fun release - and a great collaboration with MJ's sister! HIGHLY suggest checking more of MJ! Dirty Diana, Who Is It, Earth Song....anything off the Thriller album (let's face it - that album is it's own Greatest Hits collection!!) Cheers!

There are lots of collabs on those new tracks: the Notorious B.I.G, Shaq (the basketball player), R. Kelly Wrote a song and also sings, Boy II Men, a Run DMC Sampling, etc... There is an awesome cover of They Don't Care about Us from the Beatles :) For me this was perfect as I own CDs from both Michael & Janet. What's sad about this video is that Janet was kept away from her own brother by Michael's "people" unless they were required to be on set together. How ridiculous is THAT? She wasn't allowed to be on his "side" of the production during downtime. She says it herself in her docuseries 😢.
