Funk/Disco is perfect, I never would have thought that, but it totally is. Such a catchy song. Michael was a musical gift.

A flawless album. I wore out two vinyls before I destroyed the cassette from over play. Then the CD which fared better. Musically and visually, MJ was unsurpassed.

Phenomenal synth work, rythm, tempo, vocal, drums, guitar, and many more details - all is excelent put together and so good, genious ... I am not MJ fan but man his early work is really phenomenal, you have to listen many things to take clear view of this giant of pop.

Apart from being the most loved and famous person the world has ever seen, even now, still MJs voice is still so rich, smooth and original. much missed

An album that changed my world, as I’m sure it did for many. I was only just into my teens and for almost everyone this was “our” album. It was very much anticipated and snapped up by most of us. It was so slick: perhaps the first “event” album (plus videos). MTV helped - although that was far away from us in the UK. I still love hearing it 😊

This was in my 20's, and ALWAYS my fav MJ song...still slaps hard and fresh. Like Billie Jean was massive, but it's sleepy compared to this. This is more in the banger/up-tempo energy vibe of 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' & 'Don't Stop Till You Get Enough'

It’s funny that the 80s were all about metal for me, but Thriller was the first cassette I ever bought. It’s like a person would be into metal, or country, or post-punk… and MJ.
@ayaanbretmitchell9830Ай бұрын
MJ crossed over every genre too. Metalheads didn't want to admit it but they loved MJ too. The entire world did in 80s.

If you liked this, check out Donna Summer, "Love is In Control" from her 1982 self -titled album. It was produced by Quincy Jones just 1 year before he produced the Thriller album and was the first time Donna was not working with Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte. It shows her Funky R&B side and was another one of her 14 top ten hits.

Back in the day, American radio was much more segregated than it is today (although it still is today to some degree), but because of this, MJ's R&B/Funk songs were put on heavy rotation on "urban" radio whereas his Pop/Disco tracks were pushed on white radio stations. This is particularly why PYT was much more popular in African American households. The song is a staple at cookouts whereas I often find that my white friends are not as familiar with this song or became familiar with it much later on after familiarizing themselves with MJ's catalogue.

When I was a kid this was the song that made me give in and buy the Thriller album! And the follow-up single, the title track, also went Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 so Thriller produced 7 top 10's, a record until Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA matched it the following year.

This is a very popular Michael Jackson song but performed by the ASL community which I think so few people have seen. This would be a nice variation to your videos to show your reaction in how they interpreted the song (it's still Michael Jackson who sings in the background): kzbin.info/www/bejne/poTMZ4KBgbCCecU
