Yeah and there's a lot of dodgy number checking regarding Thriller and the Eagles greatest hits. Just doesn't make any sense. There was an interesting twitter thread about it with sources a lil while ago if I could find the link.

Also Thriller has been a consistent seller for years too. It was doing pretty good in 2021 from the amount of times I kept seeing it pop up on various charts, like on Vinyl and such, even on the US charts. I dunno what it's like in the US but most people I know here in UK don't even know who the Eagles are and the ones that have heard of them only know Hotel California and maybe one other song. Almost everybody can name more than a few Jackson songs. No disrespect meant to the Eagles who were a good band but, it just makes zero sense. Unless the US REALLY loves the hell out of the Eagles I just don't see how their greatest hits can possibly have outsold Thriller. But yeah like I mentioned above there's evidence of dodgy counting going on anyways. Anything to knock down Jackson's achievements, whether it's the false allegations or trying to crown a 'new king of pop' every time the media hypes up some new artist.

@Views From The 502 Michael and Paul’s relationship fell apart after Paul suggested that Michael should get into music publishing. Michael then turned around and bought the publishing rights to the vast majority of the Beatles catalog, outbidding McCartney. That’s when you started seeing things like Beatles songs being used in commercials, which the Beatles didn’t agree with or like. Paul only just recently was able to regain all of the publishing rights to his music.

Then they should have had the Eagles do the music on that album, they were all studio musicians!! The original members all worked on all Linda Ronstadt records. It was her idea to put them together as their own band and the rest is history! But from what you guys said, they'd technically be on that best selling chart a really long time!! I didn't quite catch the order, so either they would have knocked themselves off #1 with an album they did all instrumentals for( my guess!) or they would have knocked an album they did all instrumentals for off #1 for their very own album. Either way, I like Toto, but if Eagled were used on MJ's Thriller? I bet they'd have set some kind record that would still stand to this day!🏆 FYI, Paul hates MJ! They WERE friends, and as a trusted friend, Paul mentioned yo MJ that the rights to a catalog of his songs are going up for sale. Paul planned to quietly gain full ownership but Michael Jackson did him dirty and had the papers, people & payment ready to go 8am the morning the rights to the songs went to auction or sale, not sure, either way, he vought Paul's songs out from under him. It was legal but in my opinion, scummy as hell. With friends like that......
