the best sound of the 1980s. Sadly only used almost entirely in the early 80's. I haven't found any songs with it after 1985.

It's a guitar but it probably has a crybaby pedal or something similar filtering the sound
@CapitaineSabor4 жыл бұрын
@@0hhtecMusicianTheNotecianHero my guess is it is a Roland Jupiter-8 use on lead mode, because this sound is a lot used on the Thriller album (especially on the demo track like "got the hot", a pretty close sound ), and DoctorMix think the same when he covered this song on his channel ! (and i think he watched this video "rhode part" for analyse the composition of the Rhodes on this song !)

@Matou Network how are you so sure it's not a guitar
@0hhtecMusicianTheNotecianHero4 жыл бұрын
@@CapitaineSabor no at this point im pretty sure it's a clavinet. I heard Doctor Mix use a Roland Jupiter-8; I'm not convinced. Also, it need a pitch bend on one of the notes (in the original, not in this version), and I believe there isn't a pitch wheel on the Jupiter-8. But in Starlight Session, it calls this track "Rhodes synths". I still don't buy that it's a Jupiter-8. It sounds like an electric guitar with pedals and a clavinet. Yet, at the same time, the clavinet has a pitch bend in the original! It's very odd; I wonder how much the starlight session differs in terms on instrumentation compared to the official version

ah, they don't have it fade out during the Rhodes solo in this version; stems are different. also this one's Rhodes is EQ'd differently and I can hear more bass frequencies. in fact, there might not be any EQ on this version at all, making it easier to transcribe. Thank you.

That's Fender Rhodes electric piano with a chorus effect. Not a synth :)

@Matou Network oh yes I see...probably, my mistake. In any case, the Rhodes do get quite lost in the general mix too.

@@martinklabus sometimes if not always the hidden instruments are what make the music sound so huge and whitout them, the song sounds unfinished and lacking something

@@martinklabus I agree that the Rhodes get lost in the mix too, but T I N Mateus is absolutely right, the rhodes in this track is what gives the whole feeling to the song.
