The sound engineers' fear of bass has something to do with the tendency of vinyl records skipping the played music if the produced record contains heavy amount of bass/low frequencies.

@@darryldouglas6004 to be fair it does. I have noticed 70s/80s music sounds decent out of a phone speaker compared to more modern bass heavy stuff. Of course with the right setup the new stuff sounds amazing.

the bass part from the song is just the two low notes. the high notes are just arpeggiated chords for what the rest of the harmony. if you watch the part where the creatures are dancing in the video, you'll hear it.

I remember my music teacher at school demonstrating Thriller on a Roland TR505, an SH-101 for the bass line, and a Yamaha Portasound for the chord build-up, in a music lesson back in 1985-6. It was fascinating that a modern pop song could be played with all of this kit by one person - especially considering that the synth demonstrations I’d seen previously (by ARP) had required a drummer and guitarist to argument the synths. I’ve been hooked on electronic music ever since.

DOPE. The OB-8 is a monster. EPIC. I personally love the Oberheim family above everything else. I have the OB-X8 and it blows my mind. Also have a Mini-Moog (reissue). I would really LOVE to have a Jupiter 4, those are so incredible.
