Man, Jordan is now 52 years old, the same age that Dean Smith was at the time this game was played. The passage of time--beautiful yet sad at the same time. Rest in peace, Coach.
@jasonhowell12646 жыл бұрын
larry txeast Bro the NCAA had to put in the shot clocks, because Dean's 4 corners to stop him, however, Dean won NCAA basketball titles in both in the non shot clock era, and with the shot clock and 3pt line, Dean changed with the times, by the way Dean had a ,24-10 W/L vs coach K.

MJ to this day is an underrated college player.
@SILK3346 жыл бұрын
ffhd1clt that's because of Dean Smith. Michael was constricted by his system which in turn made him a better player because he had to learn how to score within the team.
@maxdurk46244 жыл бұрын
SILK334 Yet he didn't really heed those lessons until the last game of the 1991 Finals, if you know that story.
@maxdurk46244 жыл бұрын
ffhd1clt Yes, absolutely. His pre NBA stuff is so underrated, I think because A. Dean Smith's system constricted him B. Because he was the 3rd pick and C. Because it doesn't really fit the narrative of "MJ was cut from his hs basketball team, he was a late bloomer who grew into a great player."
@bubufubu4 жыл бұрын

Jordan had same mannerisms in college as he had in the pros. Used to be glued to my TV when Jordan played. @2:57 and @5:08 tells the story of what he was to become. Noticed the commentators near the end state it will be fun watching him play for 2 more years. Back than ballers stayed in school. The shorts are classic, loved them. The 80's college basketball was some of the best ball i've seen. Today's game can't compare. Wish I could go back to being 13 and sitting in front of my tv in 1983.

i enjoy seeing how mis jumper evolved too- he shoots it lower here, more of a quick release high school jumper. when he got to the pros he redefined the high release jumper , for all pros, and which everyone know emulates as it allows for the player to really hang and fadeaway. and people in college, even in his first 8 years in th eleauge said he couldn't shoot. turns out he becomes the greatest mid range shooter in history and the best fade and turnaround too, and pullup arguably- certainly amongst the best, and the best over contested defence. only gu I've seen who's 6'6 who could post up shawn kemp and kevin garnet.. his jumper, athleticism and technique and footwork allowed him to do unreal things.

It's amaIng how now with youtube and all, we can see kobe training and all that. Would have been great to see MJ training back in the day, apparently he used to train like 10 hours a day. And mainly by himself, but also go back to Carolina and scrimmage. But he didn't play silly pickup and street ball as much cos he knew it wouldn't help hi, develop. I remember reading he would spend one game just doing pull-ups, and the next just turnarounds, and the next passing, one game going left. Just working on his craft like a real tradesman.everyones hero. If I could be like mike.

Ahhhh, what might have been if Worthy was still there at the time. That was a great memory from my seventh year at Carolina -- yes, my sophomore year was the best four years of my life. You have to love the old wood scoreboard in the corner of Carmichael. I remember watching the Carolina games as a child on Channel 4 WUNC Public TV. There was only one fixed camera panning from end to end. No announcers or graphics at all. The wooden scoreboards in the corners were the only way to keep up with the score and the minutes left in the game -- not the seconds. By the time Jordan got to Carolina, we had to "Sail With the Pilot" and the announcing team of Packer and Thacker. Thank God for Thacker. He did his best to keep Packer from ruining every UNC game.
