Oh my GOD this so good. Like, "should be featured on every existing sports network" - good. Like, "I was on the edge of my seat to the point I almost fell into my monitor" - good. Like, "I have to rewatch both of the first two chapters again right before watching the next one" - good. Y'all are insane and I hope you get ALL of the attention with this incredibly written, voiced, and animated quality content. I'm a big, homegrown CLE sports fan that never really appreciated the Cavs' history so this helps a LOT (really only got interested in the Browns about 5 or 6 years ago, and now intently watch/listen to everything NFL). I was always under the assumption that the Cavs were always this middling team that never truly rose to greatness because I never really paid attention to the NBA. But this deep dive has been incredible and probably the most entertaining sports documentary I've ever seen; and this alone is getting me interested into paying attention to the NBA, and namely the Cavs. To be clear, I've always paid attention to and appreciated CLE teams, but because of the volatility of the NBA and recent influx of superteams (Heat, Warriors, Nets), it just never seemed interesting enough to watch because the season just seemed to be a forgone conclusion from the outset. But with your documentary, and with superteams getting upset quite frequently in recent years, I am definitely going to watch more basketball. So thanks a lot, and for the love of GOD please never stop making this amazing content!

@David-iv6je2 жыл бұрын
I lived in Seattle during the Kemp years there. We loved him, but the guy had some screws loose. He and Payton would have won a ring if Kemp had not been such a head case. SO it was good they traded Kemp before his drinking got out of control. The sad news is they got Vin Baker, another emerging alcoholic. Sigh.
@ojiparker41352 жыл бұрын
@@David-iv6je Well,Dennis Rodman was more of a head case than Reignman.....he really needed a true psychological type coach such as Pat,Phil or Pop n he would have at least won a title.
@David-iv6je2 жыл бұрын
@@ojiparker4135 And yet Rod's reign was so much longer, eh? He certainly did not waste any of his prime. Kemp maybe blew 6 years. But that's the difference between whatever illness Rodman had (depression?) vs alcoholism with Kemp. High functioning alcoholics eventually become low functioning alcoholics. I've seen it too many times. And the margin is far thinner with pro athletes.

The Wilkens/Price/Daugherty Cavs are kind of a forgotten squad in history. The 1989 team tied the Lakers for the second-best record in the NBA, but also had the best point differential in the league (+7.6). The 1992 team also tied Portland for the second-best record in the NBA at 57 wins. I think they get forgotten because they didn't have the year-to-year consistency of teams like Portland, Phoenix, Utah, etc., and their best ever pre-LeBron squad got bounced in the first round. Also, not sure it was said in the video, but their regular-season record against Chicago in 1989 was 6-0. When Jordan said they'd win in 4 games, it was almost like Brandon Jennings' "Bucks in six," if only Brandon Jennings was an All-NBA caliber player.

At no time was Danny Ferry adequate in Cleveland. They had to give him minutes because of the contract, but he couldn't rebound, was too slow to guard SFs, too weak to guard PFs, couldn't create offense for himself or others, and his passing was not as good as promised. He could hit stand still shots if he was WIDE open. That's it. Then Popovich somehow turned him into a valuable rotation piece which just boggles the mind.

The only reason Kevin Love's defense on Steph was "good" is because Love was so slow both in reaction time and speed that Steph's pump fakes and the sidestep ended up giving Love more time to recover and get into position.

You guys need to do a series called "Mike" and talk about what it was like to play against him. I'll even give you guys the opening. Slow pull back from a black and white photo of MJ, voice over says "To play against Michael Jordan was to play against an inevitability. He was unstoppable, unbreakable, and completely unique. Who would dare to try to stand between this, The Undisputed King of Basketball, and his crown of rings? Quite a few people, it turns out."

These are so good, I can’t wait for part 3! People that are not from North East Ohio have no idea how hard it is to root for all these teams from Cleveland. Jordan spanked the Cavs, Modell took the Browns away from us and we’ve been stuck with ineptitude until recently, the mid-90’s Indians might be the greatest MLB team to never win a World Series. Our sports teams are either a joke or an afterthought. So no, I will never hate on LeBron for leaving a second time. The 2016 NBA Championship means too much.
@tric51223 жыл бұрын
When people talk about how Jordan never faced any great teams, they leave out teams like the Cav's, who were supposed to beat them and be the next great team. I HATED the Cav's, they played the Bulls tough every game, and not dirty and physical like the Pistons, they played the Bulls tough just b/c of youthful talent. That entire team was stacked. They've been forgotten to time b/c of the greatness of those Bulls teams; and it's a shame b/c it was a team that should have been a dynasty if not for Jordan Pip Grant and Pax.
@angelusgnz5784 Жыл бұрын
He didn’t. Who was the second best player on the Cavs? Was he on the level of pippen or prime Horace grant ? No. That narrative is indeed a true one. Name a player that jordan faced that was on the level of Steph Curry or Kevin Durant. It’s that simple.
@tric5122 Жыл бұрын
@@angelusgnz5784 Here is someone that doesn't remember, or wasn't alive in that era. The Cavs were seen as the better team, and the next to Challenge the big 3, Lakers/Celts/Det, they had Daughtery, Ferry, Ehlo and Price, along w/solid bench play. It was the original MJ took it personally, next to no one had the Bulls winning that series, not even Chicago media.
@angelusgnz5784 Жыл бұрын
@@tric5122 you’re talking about media hype. hype that every era’s best player had to deal with. all this “they were supposed to be, nobody believed in the bulls, they were saying the team of the 90s,” blah blah blah. Anybody with a brain could’ve told you after the first year that the Cavs were absolute pretenders and were in no similar league as the bulls. don’t change history and act like Jordan was facing Hakeem in the finals or Tim Duncan, kevin Durant etc.
@tric5122 Жыл бұрын
@@angelusgnz5784 if by media hype you mean all the sports and NBA analysts ya. Guys that knew the NBA projected that. It wasn't like ABC's news head anchor.
@angelusgnz5784 Жыл бұрын
@@tric5122 yes the same way the pacers were thought to beat LeBron’s heat. People thought The houston rockets were gonna beat the warriors. ESPN analysts thought the buffalo bills were in the same class (and we’re going to beat) the Kansas City chiefs last year but everybody knew at the end of the day who the better teams were. Stop mythologizing jordans opponents like they were the spurs dynasty or kobe-Shaq lakers
