Growing up in Houston in the 90s... let me tell you, this video provides a VERY slanted and generous interpretation of Pippen's time with the Rockets. Pippen's nickname here is "Quitten" for a reason. He showed up, cashed his check, and clocked out. Never even tried to make it work here, and acted totally shocked and offended when the offense ran through the post with two of the greatest post players of all-time. Scottie flushed the last serviceable year of two hall of famers' careers down the toilet because of his own ego. Even though his time here was short and didn't meet expectations, Barkley is still beloved in Houston. Pippen? Not so much. For all this talk about Barkley's work ethic and drive, Pippen was the one who quit.

Both guys made mistakes along the way but Charles hit the nail on the head when he said Scottie was insecure. He knew his legacy would be defined as the game's greatest 'Robin' unless he found success w/o Jordan, much like how Kobe felt with Shaq. It's why Scottie pouted when Kukoc took that last shot. It's why he was so angry after losing to LA in 2000 (specifically Game 3). It pains Barkley never to have won a title, but it pains Scottie to be looked as a just great 2nd banana. And as great as he was, he wasn't at all on Barkley's level. Here's a fun game...look up old Sixers/Bulls & Suns/Bulls games on KZbin and you'll see Barkley abusing Pippen over and over again any time he attempted to guard him. It must be nice to talk tough when you lucked into playing 10 years with Michael Jordan. Meanwhile, Barkley's best best teammates in his prime were Kevin Johnson & Hersey Hawkins. Now Barkley's getting a lecture on dedication from a guy who caught a DWI a week before the playoffs? FOH

After watching last dance and seeing this I’ve come to the conclusion that Pippin was a straight punk. Always crying about something where ever he went. If it wasn’t for Jordan, Pippin would legit be a after thought. I agree with Charles, Pippin only wanted to win and be in a position that if he lost the blame wouldn’t be on him. Actually, I think Scottie's problem was partly his own ego, and lacking self awareness. He always wanted to be the man, but he was never quite good enough to get it done. Yes, he is a top 50 player, yes, he was a tremendous defender and worked hard. But Phil Jackson called him a sometimes shooter. Scottie wasn't a consistent enough scorer to be the man, and couldn't accept being the 3rd option behind Hakeem and Charles, who were both better offensively than Scottie was. So what did he expect? Charles took a pay cut to bring Scottie in, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would have expected a superior offensive player to defer to someone who wasn't as good, but Scottie didn't have that self awareness and maturity. Scottie was a great supplementary piece, but he never had success as a number 1 option, and on the Bulls, it was always MJ, Scottie, a little Kukoc, and nobody else was really noteworthy. For all his hard work and dedication, Scottie was never in the class of Hakeem and Charles and he struggled to accept that. Whining to the media only made it worse, and since Scottie couldn't take shots at Hakeem (a made man in Houston), he took shots at Charles, who was still better than him, but Scottie couldn't accept that somebody who didn't work as hard as he did was still a far more dominant force. No disrespect to Scottie, his resume speaks for itself. But he was always a star, not a superstar, and he just didn't understand that.

Ok cool whts done is done let's move on now there was a game while Pip was on the bench the camera picked him up pointing at the shoes he was wearing and those shoes were Jordan's.
